    3. Dear Subscribers to the Carter County, Kentucky Mailing List, I would like to share information on the KEESEEs (KOZEE, KASEE, KEZEE, etc.) of Carter County, Kentucky. Mary KEESEE married James CROSSETT, 23 Aug 1831, in Greenup County, Kentucky. They might have become Carter County residents when Carter was formed in 1838. Mary KEESEE was born 1815 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, which is on the North Carolina border, southeast of Roanoke. Her parents were Benjamin KEESEE and Pamelia "Milley" ARTHUR, according to LDS Ancestral File records. Benjamin and Pamelia were married 21 Nov 1805, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Mary KEESEE died 1894 in Boyd County, Kentucky. James CROSSETT/COSSETT was born about 1804 in Ireland. Thus, he was about 27 when he married Mary KEESEE. James CROSSETT was enumerated in the 1860 Census of Greenup County, Kentucky. I have not located James CROSSETT in any other Census as of yet. Nearly all of the KEESEEs who moved into eastern Kentucky lived in Carter County. Therefore, the Greenup County connection is intriguing to me because of another Irish CROSSETT: John L. CROSSETT (wife: Mary MCKEE), who was enumerated in the 1850 Census of Greenup County, Kentucky, living in close proximity to my third-great grandfather William COOPER. In fact, John CROSSETT's one-year-old son William CROSSETT was recorded in the home of William COOPER in 1850. This suggests a relationship between the CROSSETTs and the COOPERs. John L. CROSSETT married Mary MCKEE about 1846, location unknown to me. He died 30 Oct 1867 in Greenup County. Now, coming back to the KEESEEs, the fact that Mary KEESEE married James CROSSETT in 1831 in Greenup County suggests that James CROSSETT and John CROSSETT were related. Both men were born in Ireland. James was born about 1804 and John was born 22 Jun 1825, a difference of about 21 years. I have more KEESEE information to share. If you can help me with the CROSSETTs or with Mary KEESEE, please contact me! Thank you very much, and best wishes to you, with much success in your research! Once again, my goal is to find out if James CROSSETT and John CROSSETT were related. And, my second goal is to learn more about Mary KEESEE and James CROSSETT, such as where, when and how they met! Thank You, Randal W. Cooper
