    3. I was just looking at all the new improvements and additions John has added to the Carter Co. web page, when I noticed a posting by Debbie concerning the Greenup Co. Library and thought I'd pass her info to everybody. She's right, the Greenup Co. Library located on Main Street in Greenup, about a block from the Courthouse and next door to the Funeral Home, is an excellent place to do research for Carter Co. ancestors. In fact, when I was there about two weeks ago, they had added a computer to the genealogy room and have done some other updates. Their biggest drawback is that they are only open late on Wednesday evening, and they close early on Saturday afternoon. They do have many volumes that can't be found in the Ashland Library. Especially, they have transcripts of many area county census records. If you get the chance, do stop by and browse their genealogy room. If you are a registered voter in Carter Co., I do hope that you'll make sure to sign a petition for a County Library in Carter Co. The petitions are being circulated now and you can always stop by the Adult Learning Center in Grayson to sign one. If you can't find a petition to sign, contact me and I'll see that you get the opportunity to sign one. A Carter Co. Library could mean an up-to- date genealogy research department in our own county and maybe even a home for the Carter County Historical Society and their collection. Thanks Sherry
