In 1968, when David Littleton taught English at Prichard High School, he and his class searched through various back issues of the Carter County newspaper for special articles and tidbits. David's wife, Mary Smith Littleton, has graciously volunteered to scan some of the articles copied as a part of that project and submit them for inclusion on the Carter County web page. The local paper has operated under many names and editors, but each issue can give us a special look at life in Carter County. Thank you Mary, David and each member of that 1968 English class. The Herald, Grayson, Kentucky, February 7, 1902. The business center is made up by the C & 0, and E-K depot with J. W. McMahon as operator and freight agent, the Anglin post office kept by E. L. Powell, postmaster and groceryman, and J G. Mobley dealer in general merchandise and hotel keeping. The health of the neighborhood is generally good. We have been having some very disagreeable weather for the past week, consisting of snow, rain, and a very heavy sleet Henry Parsons returned from Cincinnati a few days ago, where he -went to market eight hogsheads of fine Burley tobacco. He reports the market in fairly good condition. R. T. Rucker, of Fairfield, Ohio, returned home last week from this place where he had been for some time on business. East Kentucky Journal September 16, 1920 Andrew Kiser and Miss Minnie Kozee were married September 5th by Rev. Arthur Jarvis at his residence in this city. The groom, a son of Warren and Rosa Kiser, is a splendid young man, while the bride, who is a daughter of Thomas and Lydia Kozee, is a young lady of many lovely traits of character. After the ceremony the young couple left for Dayton, Ohio, to reside, the groom being employed there.
