If you are a descendant of Giles (Jiles) Green and his wife Nancy (also known as Catherine) Chandler who came to Lawrence County, Kentucky by 1825 and died in Johnson County, please contact me and tell me how you descend. I am trying to assemble a list of descendants. I would also be most happy to compare notes with you! This note is going to the lists that are in the area. If you are on more than one (like me), you may receive several of these requests. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. Thanks for any help you can give me. Frankie Perry

    1. Re: [KYCARTER] Cemetery in Star Community
    2. Mary, If I knew the the names of some of the individuals in that cemetery, I may be able to help you. The names for some of these old cemeteries are difficut sometimes, as their names get changed. What some one may call one cemetery, another person might know it under a different name. This is a problem, not only in Carter Co. but in other counties on these old family cemeteries. I have a data base of over 20,000 people buried in Carter Co. in over 330 cemeteries. So if I knew some of the names with dates, I might be able to identify it. Don Meenach: Researching Meenach, Menough, Menix, Minnix, Lowe, Skaggs, Bailey, Cartee, McBrayer, Castle, Cassel, Bevins, Penix, Pack, Borders, Brown, Prince, Rigsby, Francis, Arledge. 1. Re: [KYCARTER] Bayes and Green and Adams and Kitchen
    2. Yes, the Kilgore girls were the daughters of the Rev. Robert Kilgore and his wife Jane Porter Green Kilgore. Jane PORTER was married to James Green first. He was killed by Indians and she then married Robert Kilgore. Three of Jane & Robert Kilgore's daughters married Bays boys -- sons of William and Rachel Unknown Bays of Scott County, Virginia. William Bays was the son of Peter (2) and Sarah Unknown Bays and the brother to Peter (3) Bays who married Susanna Barker. Charles Bays married Susanna Kilgore. John "Jack" Bays married Jane Kilgore. William Bays married Anna Kilgore. All three families lived in Carter County, Kentucky for various periods of time. I am happy to help! Anne Bays

    3. Anna Bays, THANK YOU for the information on who was who in the 1850 census and who married into the Adams and the Kitchen family. It DID help! Thanks! Do the Kilgore sisters link back with the Kilgore and Green family from VA that came to the Elliott County area of KY? I remember looking at this for a link between Lewis Green and the Giles and Enoch Green lines. Thank you for your help! Frankie

    1. Re: [KYCARTER] Bayes and Green and Adams and Kitchen
    2. Jane Bays who married Sylvester Adams and Sarah Bays who married Charles Adams are sisters. They are the daughters of William and Anna Kilgore Bays. The William Bays who is listed in the 1850 Carter County census with two of his sons Leonard and William is their father. Nancy Bays who married William Kitchen is the daughter of John and Jane Kilgore Bays. (This John Bays is a brother to the above William Bays.) When Nancy's mother died, she and her husband took her younger brother Samuel and her sister Sena to live with them. Those are the two teen-aged Bays children who are living with the William Kitchen family in the 1850 census. Sena Bays married John S. Counts and her brother Samuel Logan Bays married John's sister Lucinda Jane Counts. Jane Bays who married Lewis Kitchen is a sister to Nancy Bays Kitchen and to WINIFRED Bays who married Andrew J. Kitchen, Jr. I hope this helps! Anne Bays
