Your dates were correct but you had the wrong parents for Anne/Annie. The two girls were sisters not cousins! My letter looked confusing because of the way Rootsweb sent it out along with the letter I was responding to. Here is what I was attempting to say: >Nancy ANNE Bays w/o Joseph M. Thomas and Pearl Bays w/o Stephen >Douglas >Thomss were sisters, both children of Leonard "Doc" Bays and Amanda >Adams.
Thank you!!!! This is great. Sherry, First let me correct information on Martin Luther Thomas born July 29, 1879 died Nov 11, 1965 he married Miriam Myrtle Felty February 13, 1900, she was the daughter of David Felty and Elizabeth Gilliam and Elizabeth Gilliam was the daughter of Jasper Gillium and Easter McBryer. 2.)Regarding Stephen Thomas' middle name, I first received the middle name from "family information" _ Bibles etc. It was confirmed by Ralph Lane. 3.) Don't know much regarding those Bayes girls, but what I have found looks real interesting. I have that Anna Bayes b Oct 30, 1854 was the daughter of Henderson Bayes and Ples Adams. and that Pearl Bayes born approx.1874 was the daughter of Leonard Bayes and Amanda Adams. Do you connect to the Stephen Thomas family? My grandfather was Martin Luther Thomas. I have the same info on Hattie Thomas, except I have Stephen's middle initial as F. per 1880 Carter Co Census. Where did you find Douglas as a middle name? Thanks for the info on Martin Luther Thomas. I didn't have a marriage for him yet. Do you have a connection that ties Ann Bays (that was married to Joseph Thomas) and Pearl May Bays (that was married to Stephen F.(Douglas) Thomas)? Now a cousin of Hatties, Martin Luther Thomas (Joseph, James Henry) married an Elizabeth Gillum Felty daughter of a Jasper Gilliam and Easter McBryer. bj
I think my Gillums lived in Carter County at one time. My grandfather John Gillum was born in the 1896 son of Ison Gillum and Elizabeth Melvina Salyers. I think mom said they lived in Carter County for a while, but I am not sure. Ison was the son of John Gilliam and Sally Jackson, son of Chesley and Louisa Estep Gilliam, son of Richard and Judith Stidham Gilliam. I have names a little further back but I am not sure of the accuracy from Richard on back. Our Gillums (sometimes spelled Gilliam) lived in various counties in Kentucky and came form Virginia. I didn't recognize any names on previous posts that are in our Gillum line. Does anyone recognize these names. Bill Johnson
I will have to look. I have a lot of things still packed as we are in the middle of moving. e-mail me in a couple days as a reminder. Sandy
