John ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2006 08:57:56 EDT From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: long shot - VINCENT/BOWLBY Researchers, I realize there is a Grayson , KY (in Carter Co.), and also a Grayson Co., KY. I am hoping someone will be able to help me, though. I am seeking a Marie (maiden surname unknown) b. ca 1906 in "Grayson, KY". Marie married twice that I know of - first to a man with the surname VINCENT; and then to a man with the surname BOWLBY. Marie had at least two sons with Mr. Vincent, and these sons were adopted by Mr Bowlby. Marie Bowlby lived in Texas for a while and died there Dec 25, 2000, in Arlington, TX. I would certainly appreciate hearing from anyone who would tell me a bit more about Marie. Kind regards, Sharon --------------------------------- Love cheap thrills? 3. Charlotte, Your message does not say why you are looking in these particular counties. ( I received your message on the Carter, Fleming and Lawrence lists.) Also, do not make assumptions about marriage dates, based on the birthdate of children. Depending on where your family lived and where the next available preacher lived, it is always possible that the marriage took place within a few years after the birthdate of the firstborn. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charlotte E Flock" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 25, 2006 1:40 PM Subject: [KYCARTER] Marriage Lookup Short and Wariner > I'm looking for a marriage record of William Boyd Short, married to > Caroline Wariner or Warren. 3. I'm looking for a marriage record of William Boyd Short, married to Caroline Wariner or Warren. Their only child, Charles McPherson Short. On Charles death certificate it mentions his parents names.. The closest that I can figure out that William probably got married in the late 60's but no later then 1872, because that's when Charles McPherson Short was born. I have not been able to place William Boyd Short on the 1870 census. So I want to think that he was married after 1870 but no later then 1872. Remember Charles was born in 1872. If you happen to have a marriage record book on hand could you please check the index. for William Boyd Short and Caroline Wariner or Warren. Charlotte

    2. Lydia, Thank, I would like to add their names to the list. Do you have any dates or approximate dates to add to this info? Don Meenach In a message dated 3/5/2006 8:21:35 A.M. If you wish, I am quite certain that Giles and his mother Roseann Perkins-Wheeler died and were buried at the Watson cemetery near Iron Hill, that it might be helpful to mention, family legend is they were buried there in unmarked graves. I understand many graves were washed out over time. Since our death certificate for Giles Wheeler gives the Watson cemetery as his burial spot, and we know his mother died soon after, I thought you might want to add a P.S. to your records to that effect. I checked the Carter County Cemetery list and it is not shown. If you have a listing, I would be most interested in it! Frankie Perry

    2. Excuse me ladies. I am interested in the Helen Tackett line. My Jesse R. Harris, born in Lee Co. Va. in 1824, married Sarah Salyer in Floyd Co., Ky. in 1848 had a daughter Emily Harris who married a Jim Tackett in Erath Co., Tx. the Salyer's and Harris's had traveled to Texas from St. Paul, Arkansas. I am trying to find someone who can tell me more about Jesse R. Harris and thought perhaps someone in the Tackett line might know something of Sarah's husband parents. Sarah and Jim went back to I believe Oklahoma for a short time to other Tackett families there, but she died and was buried in Erath co. Tx. Jim may have had another marriage before or after Sarah and I believe he is buried in an 'Oney" ? Cemetery. I do have quite a lot of information on the Tackett family sent to my by either a Tackett or a Green. Any information would be appreciated and I am glad to share although I have been having some computer problems. Thank You in Advance, Estell Blake, Est1b1AOL.com he cemetery being restored is located in Johnson County, Kentucky, on Rt. 3387, near Honey Lane. Right beside the road is the James Green Cemetery, also known as the Marcus Green Cemetery. The Jiles Green Cemetery is on the hill on the opposite side of Rt. 3387; the hill is bounded by Rt. 3387 and Honey Lane. This is in the Rockhouse area, nead Chandlerville. James and Marcus Green were sons of Jiles Green, and Jiles' second wife Margaret Ghent Yates Green is buried in the cemetery that is known by their name. This is on property that was once owned by Jiles Green. Helen's Tackett line: I am not sure. She is really into family research, though, so why don't you contact her. She doesn't use email, but will gladly respond to a phone call or letter.
