I am looking for Everman, Justice, Waugh, Barker, and Whisman. I also have Kiser and James on my tree. I found that the Everman's changed their name from Ebberman. Linda Z
Eli Sr and Sarah Davis Williams have been mentioned in earlier messages. Does anyone know where they are buried? His farm was west of Willard on Little Fork and was purchased after his death by his daughter Rebecca and husband Benjamin Crawford. This is near Candy Branch and Silver Mines Branch. Linda
We also have a connection to Eli Williams. His daughter Rebecca 1st married Wm Boggs and after his death she married Benjamin F Crawford of Carter Co. They left Carter Co in 1869 and came to Missouri, settled in Hickory Co and remained there the rest of their lives. We are about to finish a book on Benjamin,Rebecca and their descendants to the present. We don't have a lot of Williams info but will share.B&R are my husband's 2nd great grandparents. Jack and Linda Crawford
Seeking information on the family & parents of Opal INGLES who was born in Carter County, KY about 1918 and may have died there in 1962. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. schiro@gte.net
Carter researchers, Someone asked for directions to the MADDIX Cemetery on the list and another researcher asked me for directions to the STEVENS Cemetery on Pole Cat Branch. I copied some notes from my Family Tree Maker database this morning. I visited the area last year with Melissa Miller and Vicki Gilbert. We mapped the directions to several cemeteries on the way to the Stevens Cemetery. My notes are listed below. -- Begin -- I visited the STEVENS Cemetery on Pole Cat Branch on Saturday, 25 Jul 1998 (former location of George W. Stevens Farm). Directions were recorded from Route 182 in Grahn (Carter County, KY) starting at the Macedonia Church of Old Regular Baptists. At the intersection of route 182 and 3298 turn left at the Macedonia Church of Old Regular Baptists. You will be traveling on Church Ridge Road. At .4 miles you will pass the ROAR Cemetery (a road turns to the right for the cemetery). At .7 miles you will encounter a fork in the road. Take the right fork. At 1.1 miles you will pass the CARROLL Cemetery (once again it's a turn off to the right). At 1.2 miles the road will form a t-shape and you will be forced to turn left or right. Turn right. At 2.1 miles you will encounter a fork in the road. Turn left onto Big Sinking Road. At 2.3 miles you will pass the MADDIX Cemetery (a road to the right; .1 mile from the turn off), At 3.2 miles you will encounter a small fork in the road, stay to the right (left road goes to Littleton Road--don't take this road). At 4.1 miles you will encounter a dirt path/road that climbs a 45 degree plane. This is the location of the former farm of George W. Stevens, oldest child of William Stevens and Nancy Gilbert. Travel to the top of this hill to visit the STEVENS Cemetery (About a half mile to the top of the hill). If you bypass the entrance you can travel to 5.0 miles and turn right to enter the GILBERT Cemetery. The cemetery is .2 miles from the main road. -- End -- Keep in mind there are multiple cemeteries in Carter Co., KY that contain large numbers of surnames. Their are at least two large Stevens/Stephens cemeteries as well as several Carroll cemeteries. If you don't find your ancestor in the first surname cemetery you locate, keep looking. Good luck! I think I have a connection with your Williams. My Eli Williams, SR was b. abt 1780 in MD. Migrated from Maryland between 1800-06 to Greenup County, KY. As you might know Carter was formed from Greenup in the 1830's. Eli, SR married Sarah (Sally) Davis d/o Lamach and Rebecca Williams Davis. Eli SR and Sarah were married April 23 1806 in Scioto Co., OH. Children of Eli SR and Sarah are: Harriett, Alfred, Lamach, Rebecca, Thomas, Eli, JR, and Bazil. Bazil is my gggrandfather. Sarah Davis' father, Lamach, was a slave holder and there is a copy of his will on the Bath County, KY page along with a bunch of his family history at: http://homepage.dave-world.net/~kwdaniel/surnames.html which will give Lamach Davis father, etc. Lamach had three daughters - Sarah, Rebecca, and Nelly (married a Williams). Rumor has it that Lamach fathered some children from his slave woman Phebe. Do you know who Eli, SRs parents were? Any input greatly appreciated. Mary
No, no connection unless your James had a brother ELI. My Eli was born either in Md or VA around 1775 and served in the war of 1812. My line then follows to Lamack who married martha Fultz Cook. Several Williams have contacted me and most did not know of a book "The Williams Family of Eastern Kentucky" which was published by one of the historical societies. A fellow in Texas sent me info on it, but then I found it in the Cincinnati Public Library. It is a good source book for Williams.

Hi I know that many of you are subscribed to several of these lists that I belong to so I apologize if you get this message more than once. Many of you have seen my searches for the surnames BURNHAM, DAY and GILLESPIE. I am still seeking any information available. I have noticed that every once in awhile our genealogy lists get off on subjects that are not exactly prime subjects for the list. Many members get involved and sometimes it gets out of hand. Realizing that everyone feels passionately about certain issues from time to time and needs an outlet, that we might have a book, table or even a car for sale from time to time or we may want to give messages of support for our local sports teams, I have created lists especially for your general area that will allow you to speak up about most anything, except genealogy, which is prohibited so as not to compete with this list. This is really online talk radio for your area? Have you ever wanted on a particular day to post your feelings on a political issue? How about your favorite sports team? Do you have something to SELL, but cannot post it to this genealogy list? Do you want to make a plea for your favorite charity? Do you have some knowledge about your area that you want to share with others? Do you want to promote your business? Do you have some stock tips? A proven successful at home business? Missing persons? Public Service Announcements? Do you have a complaint that you just have to get off your chest? Do you want to flame flamers? All of these topics and more are fair game on these lists. Both subscribe and unsubscribe are instantaneous and done online at http://www.onelist.com. There is a NOMAIL option that allows you to post, but not receive messages. You also have normal and digest choice. Best of all you can upload files to share with others at the special web page provided by the list. No HTML knowledge required. There are limitations, however. The official description of all these new lists are the same: Online talk radio including, area news, weather, history, classifieds, sports, recipes, books, local stocks, business, politics, entertainment(non adult), public service announcements, lost and found. No genealogy queries, please In KY, or bordering KY, the following lists have just been created. You are invited to join one or more of them. It is important to invite others as well so that our messages reach as many people as possible. Unlike an internet page, I get no money from anyone for advertising. Have fun! http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/kychat http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/LouisvilleTalkRadio http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/SEKentuckyTalk http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/BluegrassOnline http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/WesternKYtalk http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/EasternKYRadio http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/CincinnatiTalkRadio http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/KnoxvilleTalk And for everyone everywhere: http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/PoliticsOnlineRadio Stan
