    3. Jennifer, The University of Kentucky has a map library. That might be the first place to check. I was there last year and the people were very helpful, even though they were in the midst of remodeling. Good luck. 1. [KYCARTER] Carter cemetery links
    2. Thanks for the links everyone! Unfortunately I have been unable to find my ancestor on any of these sites. I noticed that John Rucker has a cd of Carter County cemeteries but I have been unable to contact him. Does anyone know if the Historical society may have done a survey of all the cemeteries? I guess I should write to them and find out. I am looking for the grave of my great great grandmother. She died in 1890. She was only 19 when she died and I am having a terrible time finding any information on her. I would like to put up a marker for her if I could discover where she is buried. I have found the graves of her father and grandfather but have found nothing on her. Does anyone know if there was a newspaper published in the late 1800's in Carter County? Maybe there would be an obituary for her. Jennifer Fraley Voss

    3. Hey! I'm from Olive Hill originally.. and maybe I can help. There is a cemetary on the south side of 60 when you are heading east out of Olive Hill. You can see the cemetary from 60. I *think* that is what is called Erwin Cemetary. Of course.. you can always stop at the local funerial parlor/home and ask someone there. Also... you could stop into "James Drive Inn" right there in Olive Hill and ask at the counter. Lots of "old timers" go to James.. and all are VERY friendly to chat with. I'm sure you will be able to find what you are looking for. Hope this helps! take care.. and good luck. 1. [KYCARTER] RAMEY family in Kentucky
    2. I was in Pendleton Co., KY, yesterday researching my RAMEY roots and came up with the following information from the E. E. Barton Papers and census microfilms: Abe RAMEY, b. in Bath Co., KY, occupation - furnace worker, lived in Pendleton and Bracken Couties of KY before moving back to the mountains of Rowan and Greenup Counties in KY. No wife's name was given. His children were listed as follows: William Perry RAMEY (my gg grandfather), b. abt. 1830 probably in Bath or Rowan County, KY, d. 7 Dec. 1909 in Covington, Kenton Co., KY, m. Margaret J. Sittleton "Lil" RAMEY, b. abt. 1838, lived a short time in Bracken & Pendleton Counties of KY, then moved to Greenup Co. where he died. Trumbon (?) "Trum" RAMEY, b. abt. 1842, lived 2-3 years in Pendleton Co., then moved to Greenup Co. where he married the sister of Archie's wife, Lizzie. Sam RAMEY was killed in a mine in Rowan Co. when oxen ran off and upset wagon on him. Jesse RAMEY lived and died in Greenup County. Elizabeth "Lizzie" RAMEY, b. abt. 1839, m. Boston STEELE of Concord in Pendelton Co. She is buried there. Their son was George STEELE. Another daughter, believed to be named Ruth Ann RAMEY, b. abt. 1837, lived and died in Greenup Co. 3. Is there anyone living in the Lewis, Carter, Greenup area that could do a lookup for a Commissioners Deed? Hiram B. Day owned land in Carter, Lewis, Greenup Co's until about 1854. He, nor any of his family, cannot be located after 1854. If Hiram died or sold the land and moved, there should be a disposition of the land...either sold and divided among the widow and children.
