I had a call from John English, who lives in Louisville. He was interested in the English family that the town of English in Carroll County was named for. Rennick's Kentucky Place Names indicates that the town was named for James Wharton English, who married a Demint and is buried in the neglected Demint Cemetery on Green Bottom Road in Carroll County. John English says that James Wharton English was the son of Elijah English and Sarah Wharton, who settled near Bedford and had 14 children, including his ancestor Samuel, and John B. English, the ancestor of a lady in Hawaii he had been corresponding with. If anyone on the list has an interest in the English family you might contact johnenglish@insightbb.com. He also has an interest in the condition of the Demint Cemetery. Bill Davis
