Hi all I belong to the Clan Campbell Society. I'm going to shorten this. The original name was O'Duibne. ( pron. 'oh doin' ) Probably not long after the death of Somerled, regulus of Argyll in 1163, Gillespic O'Duibne is said to have to have married Eva ,a Dalriadic heiress on Lochawe in Argyll in 1163,Gillespic O'Duiben, when Gillespic and Eve ,son Duncan ,his son ,Dugald O'Duibne was given the nick-name 'caim beul' meaning Curved mouth. he was resepected by his sons,for all of then took the name Cambell. The Campbell spelling was adoped in the middle 1400. Dugald 2nd son ,Sir Gillespic Cambel,md ,Efferick. gran daughter of duncan Earl of Carrick ,whose great -grandson was , King Robert Bruce.
