Was wondering if there are existing tax records for Carroll Co. between the years 1880-1900. Haven't found anything on-line for that time frame, but I'm not opposed to visiting in person if there are records at the courthouse, clerk's office, library, historical society, etc. If not there, does anyone know if there would be anything at the KY state archives in Frankfort? TIA to anyone who may be able to point me in the right direction. By the way, I'm working on my ROBINSON-SCHIRMER line & trying to prove a connection between my George ROBINSON & the HOAGLAND family - I believe that his mother was Rebecca HOAGLAND & can prove that she & her husband, Wm. ROBINSON /did/ have a son, George, but need more documentation that will substantiate my theory that /their/ George is my g-grandfather! Thanks, Jan
Hi Jan, If you find tax records, would you let us know where you find them? I am looking for my husband's grandfather who was a forger. According to prison records he was born in Kentucky in 1885/6. Most of the time he was Charles or Edward, Howard or Barrett. The family story was that after fathering a child, he took off for Carroll County. I have been to the Carroll County Courthouse. (It was one of the best parts of that trip. I live in Washington State.) I'd like to find out what Barretts and Howards were living in the County at the time. Then see if I can find out if they had a boy in the right time range. It's like grasping at the wind. But I've been looking for a long time. Good luck in your search.
