    1. Re: [KYCARROL] Carroll Co. Tax records

    3. The Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives has 16 reels of microfilms representing tax assessment books from 1840 to 1972, but I'm not familiar with those records. I don't know how they would help you in your query. http://kdla.kyvl.org/vwebv/holdingsInfo?searchId=274&recCount=10&recPointer=0&bibId=116157 I have never seen these books at courthouse. You could ask about them. I suspect they have been sent off to the archives and put in storage, and only the films available to the public -- if you can get access to a working reader. I don't think the courthouse has a lot of records. They have deeds, mortgages, marriages, and wills. They only have later court order books. There are filing cabinets with miscellaneous records. The surname genealogy files of Kathryn Salyers on microfilm have been deposited at the Carroll County library. I don't know if they have been made available to the public yet. She had a Robinson ancestor herself, and probably has a considerable Robinson file. Many years ago I used to correspond with a Hoagland descendant named Maryte T. Dyess at Galludet University in Washington, D.C., an institution for the deaf. There was genetic deafness in the Carroll County Hoaglands. If there was such deafness in your line, that might be a clue.
