I know this may sound strange, but I am looking for Ancestry 2005. There is/was a program that you can open from your desktop. I downloaded it from the net sometime ago. But when my comp died for a short time I lost it. This opens Ancestry so that you may add information to your tree (off-line), then you can update your tree when on-line at a later time. Does anyone have any clues or ideas as to where I can locate this? I am tired of always having to be on-line to add names and notes to my tree.Thank you ____________________________________________________________ Is your bra causing you pain? I have them in my database, even though I am not related directly. What specific do you want to know? Hannah Dunn, b. 20 May 1808 m. Henry Wise, Robert Dunn, b. 1813, m. Mary "Polly" Wise in 1842. Could be Lucy is the daughter of Hanna and Henry cause there is a Louisa born about 1848-9-could be her and the date is just off a bit or she could be their g daughter. The names listed in the 1850 census give Henry as 56, Hanna 41, Ina 32, Wm. W. 30, Henry m. 28, George W. 26, Lucinda 23, Serena 17, elizabeth 7, Phoebe 5,Julia S. as 3 and Louisa as 1. William Wooley also appears to be living with them. The Madison Courier, Madison Indiana, ran an article dated Nov 8, 1873 about a Thomas Wise, b. in Md. 1793. It is 5 pages long, and you may be able to find it on the Jefferson County site. It doesn't give names of children, but it is a really interesting narrative talking about Williamson Dunn, a relative, which may be why I copied it. It says the family was offered some land by someone in Trimble Co.after the father of the Wise family died and they moved to Corn Creek, three miles south of Milton on the Bedford Road. The family took charge of a mill there, located near the present Corn Creek Baptist Meeting House. Tommy is the only child of this family who is mentioned. I have a Robert Wise somewhere in my tree, possibly married to one of my Dunns, but have to look to see for sure which. Hello, Is there anyone on this list who has Barretts or Howards in their lineage? My Husband's Grandfather supposedly came from Carrollton Kentucky. He was a forger who had four first names and four last names. He was born about 1885/6 in Kentucky according to prison records. In 1908 he was Edward Barrett in Pendleton, Oregon. In 1915 he married my husband's Grandmother Rachel Brewer as Charles Howard in Eugene, Oregon. I've also found him as James Harris and Robert Williams in California. He was Charles Edward Howard in Washington. My husband has taken a Y DNA test at familytreedna.com. I hope to learn which family we come from. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Several people asked for a mailing address. I'm sure Kathryn would appreciate hearing from people and knowing they are thinking of her. The address is: KATHRYN SALYERS c/o GREEN VALLEY HEALTH & REHABILITATION CENTER 1206 ELEVENTH STREET CARROLLTON, KY 41008 Bill Davis
Just a note to let all know that Kathryn Salyers, the genealogist-historian of Carroll County, suffered a stroke a couple of weeks ago. She is currently in Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carrollton, not far from her home. She has lost the ability to speak, but her ability to communicate improves every day. She has been a great historical resource for Carroll County and surrounding areas. Her surname files were filmed some years ago by the LDS church, and are available through the LDS stake libraries. Hi Bill Davis, just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and thank you for all the help you have given me over the years. Still looking for Dunns and Starkeys--your map was a lot of help, too. Found that Hugh K. Starkey was b. right at the bottom of the land he owned along with some other unknown family-no stones for them, just his civil war one. I am so sorry!! I sent a wrong URL. Guess my fingers weren't working right! The new addy for the KY Archive files should be: http://usgwarchives.org//ky/kyfiles.html Suzanne
An FYI: The USGenWeb Archives have moved to a new server and you need to update your bookmarks. Please forgive me if you receive this more than once since a lot of you are on several of the mailing lists... The New National Archive site; http://www.usgwarchives.org/ The New Kentucky Archive Pages; http://usgwarchives.org/ky/kyfiles.htm We need to get the word out since the files that were housed on RW are being deleted and will no longer be available. Please feel free to send this to other lists you may be on. Suzanne Shephard Assistant State File Manager, Kentucky Archives
Please be advised that the Carroll Co., KYGenWeb site, a proud member of the USGenWeb Project has moved its website to a new hosting service. During this change you may get a "Page Not Found" or other errors when trying to access the site. Please let me know in a private email if you find a broken link or problem of other types on the site. Our new URL address is http://www.kykinfolk.com/carroll , you will need to change your links and bookmarks to reflect this new address. Once the web crawlers go through the name servers, they'll once again find us at our new home. At this time, there is also an index at our old address on RootsWeb that will take you to the new site. Several other KYGenWeb county sites are also in the process of moving their sites with the state site, to other servers of their choice. We also ask you to please pardon our dust while the moves are in progress. We will be working to repair problems as quickly as possible. Thank you for your time and patience with us during this period of time. We look forward to working with you in your research and contributions to the Carroll County KYGenWeb Project. I just found that the the 1883 D. J. Lake Map of Carroll and Gallatin Counties is available online in a pdf file: http://www.kentonlibrary.org/genealogy/pdf/carroll.pdf Years ago I created an everyname index for this map, and can do lookups in the index for free. Bill Davis
Bill, I'm interested in a couple of names I noticed in the Locust Precinct (Carroll County). I'm certain they're relatives, but they only contained first initials: B. Murphy P. Murphy Any first name clue on these two? My Dad was born in Worthville, KY. I know my Great Grandparents, Lindsey MURPHY and Effie Reece JOHNSON worked some property out in that area and he had John MURPHY (my G2 Grandfather and a couple of his sons) living and working the farm as well. I must say those maps are pretty clear to read even after you've magnified them.
