    1. [KYCARROL] FamilyDiscovery is up to old tricks
    2. Thought you all should know about this. Jan -----Original Message----- From: Joy Fisher [mailto:sdgenweb@yahoo.com] Sent: 27 February, 2003 2:47 PM To: STATE-COORD-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [STATE-COORD-L] FamilyDiscovery is up to old tricks Hi Everyone: The old genealogy scam is back. www.genseekers.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. Guess what? The cancellation e-mail bounces. Does this surprise you? One person who recently fell for the come-on had his/her account dinged not once, but twice. It is time to remind folks on your state and county mailing lists about these scoundrels. It has been a couple of years since we have mentioned this. Permission is granted to pass this on.

    1. [KYCARROL] McKinney, McKenney
    2. I would like to make contact with anyone who is researching and/or descended from the Logan McKinney line. Logan McKinney may have also been known as L.L. McKinney or Levi Logan McKinney. His parents were Levi McKinney and Elizabeth Estes. He was married to Lydia Amanda Meyers. He was a watchman for the L&N railroad. He died in 1951. He is buried in English, Carroll, Kentucky. Logan McKinney is listed on the 1900 census with his family in the Walton, Boone, Kentucky area. He then lived in the Covington, Kenton, Kentucky area from around the 1930's on. I believe that some of Logan McKinney's children lived in the area: William G. "Gale" McKinney, Howard McKinney, Georgie(a) (McKinney) Shoots, and Gladys (McKinney) Wayman. Please contact me if you are familiar with any of these names. Thank you, Debbie

He may have been from Trimble, or possibly his parents were. Count me in if the Carroll County reunion you suggest can be put together. 3. Maybe instead of family reunions we should have a Carroll County reunion and compare notes on where our ancestors came from and when they came to Carroll. Seems like a lot of them came to Carroll from Va and settled there before 1800. Did they come by wagon? By boat down the Ohio? Did they come in large groups? religious groups? Did they all go to Henry County? Would that mean they came by wagons? or did they all go to Trimble which might mean they came by boat? Did they all fight in the rev. war and get land grants? If so, where are all those records? Did they all go to the same church? In my research I find the same names coming up over and over-are they related and do their names show up in someone's bible? Or old newspapers? I had my mom's old scrapbook on the net for a while--did anyone find anyone in there? It was 1930-40 news and had lots of names. Her family came to Henry-Trimble-Carroll in the late 1700's and were still there in the 1940s. She must have been related to half the people there albeit distantly. Roslyn
