Just to let everyone know, I have finally been able to put together a Family Group Sheet that folks can fill out on the site! http://www.rootsweb.com/~kycarro2/FGS/groupsheet.html When you click on the submit button, it is emailed back to me so I can post it! Now everyone can contribute their information even if they don't have a genealogy software program. I hope this will help those of you who needed this type of form! Hello, I am hoping someone will know of a Charles Howard or Edward Barrett born about 1885 in Kentucky, possibly Carrol County. I am looking for the right Howard family and it's like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack at night. He was in and out of prisons in Washington, Oregon and California from 1908 to 1928. He also used 5 names that I know of. When he married my husband's grandmother in Oregon in 1915 he was Charles Howard. From his prison records he was born in Kentucky in 1885. He was convicted of forgery in Pendleton Oregon in 1908 as Edward Barrett and was sent to Oregon State Penitentiary. Sometime he was released, got into trouble again, and was released from Washington State Penitentiary in 1914 as Charles Howard. Back in OSP in 1916 (for taking his father-in-law's horse and selling it as his own), escaped in 1918, went to California, was caught (as James Harris) and returned to Oregon. When he got out he went to California and went to jail in 1921 (last name Howard), released in 1925, Warrant out in 1927 (last name Howard), in jail in 1928 (as Robert Williams), still in jail in the 1930 census. I don't know anything after that. So somehow I have to find a family with a Charles born in 1885. So far no luck. I've been tossing out fishing lines for several years hoping that someone is related to this man. I know he had brothers and sisters, went to church until he left home and that he started drinking when he was 10 years old. He could have lied about any of the five names he used. So chances are slim that I'll find any relatives, but I keep hoping. The prison records are consistent that he was born in Kentucky and in 1885 or close to 1885. I know he was married at least three times. Age of first marriage on the 1930 (?) census is 26 making his first marriage in 1911. He was married in 1915 to Rachel Brewer, divorced in 1916. He is shown as married in the 1930 census. Does anyone have a Charles or Edward in their family born in 1885 in Kentucky? Are there any 1890 records in Kentucky. Are there histories of the county in this time period? Thank you! Ronda Howard
Hi again! I've started to receive a great number of Group Sheets from everyone and I will be starting to post them later tonight. however, PLEASE, put the County name (where the Group Sheet will be posted) in the Subject line of your email! I'm doing Group Sheets for four different Kentucky counties and I don't want to get them mixed up <g> Thanks for everyone's help!! Suzanne
Anyone who does not know what a Family Group Sheet is but would like to participate in this project, check this FGS on the Gallatin County web site http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygalla2/gregorygroupsheet.htm I am going to post an interactive form on each web site so the folks who don't have genealogy software that produces Group Sheets, will still be able to participate. You will type your information into this form and send it to me! A good friend, Carol Osborne the Boone Co. coordinator has sent me the forms... now all I have to do is make them work on my sites <g> Hopefully this feature will be available to everyone within a couple of days! If you have other questions, please let me know! Suzanne
I have found a birth record dated 1914 in the Carroll County site. Where would I send for this? Thanks, Roslyn -----
Hi Listers, Anyone who wants to submit Family Group Sheets, please email them to me. Do not send more than 2 at a time if you are sending attachments. I think this will be a great project... I got a lot of wonderful responses when I asked this list if they wanted to participate in this! So send them on and if you need help, just let me know! Wow! I've received so much mail tonight in favor of the Group Sheets! I've started to set up Gallatin Co. and I will begin setting up Adair, Carroll & Henry later this week. I'll email the lists when I've finished and you can begin sending me your information! Thanks to everyone who emailed me! Suzanne
Hi all, I'm thinking about adding Family Group Sheets to the site. Please let me know if there is any interest in adding these. Some of the other KYGenWeb sites have them and they seem to be a real hit <g> So let me know if any of you are interested in participating and if we have enough interest, I'll get them started! I have an announcement about the Indiana Genealogical Society's upcoming conference, which I thought might be of interest to the Carroll County list. *********** The Holiday Inn in Anderson, Indiana (Exit 26 on I-69) will play host to the Indiana Genealogical Society's annual conference on Saturday, April 2, 2005. George G. Morgan, noted author and columnist for Ancestry.com, will speak at four sessions. Other sessions will focus on family photos, school records and researching Catholic ancestors. There will be various vendors (including the Illinois State Genealogical Society and the Ohio Genealogical Society) and a Computer Resource Center staffed by IGS, where attendees can view demonstrations of websites, data CDs and other software. The Anderson Public Library (http://www.and.lib.in.us) will have a Research Lock-In on Friday, April 1st from 5 to 8 pm. Conference and vendor registration forms are available on the IGS website at http://www.indgensoc.org/conference.html ************************************ Meredith Thompson Newsletter editor & website manager Indiana Genealogical Society http://www.indgensoc.org

Joseph Hardy; bond by Richard and Turner Bowling. Turner Bowling to Ann Lingfelter, dau of Michael Lingfelter, md May 21 1821 by Rev. Henry Brenton, bond by Turner Bowling and John Lingfelter. None of these men appear in the 1850 census as far as I can tell, though Catherine and her children are there. Perhaps if you find these other Bowlings, you'll find George as well. Does anyone know of the men that went west during the gold rush days from Carroll Co. KY? I had a G-g-grandfather that disapeared about that time period. George W. Bowling left a wife and childern before the 1850 census. I don't know what happened to him. Thanks, Nancy
Hello Suzanne, I want to thank you for your time and effort in posting the burials as well as to all the other work you have done with the Carroll County webpage. I have checked through just about all and have found information which I did not have. And to James Lee Cobb, III, a very big THANK YOU for all your wonderful work and for sharing it with us all. It is greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Laurie Carpenter
