Although I don't have the Basil you are interested in, I do have a Samuel Thomas who was born in Virginia and whose wife was born about 1790. This may seem unrelated until I note that Samuel had children, one of whom was named Basil. Do you know if your Basil had brothers other than the Thomas you asked about? I though there might be a posibility that my Samuel was Basil's brother, too; and he named one of his sons after his brother.
