Ann, Thank you, thank you for your response to my request. I appreciate you sharing this information. You suggested checking with a couple of other lists; do you have their links? I'm not sure how the name is pronounced. Freda was my great-grandmother and she died when I was just an infant. My great-grandparents moved to North Carolina when my grandfather was a little boy, so there was very limited contact with the Campbell co. kin. I sometimes wonder if that is even the "original" spelling of the name...so often "f" was actually "ss", but I have no proof. Every document that I have found indicates the spelling as Sanftleben. I appreciate all the help you can give me, and am willing to share any info that I have with you. Are you related to this family? Thanks - Carolyn
