    1. John Hill/Ellen Transom marriage

    3. Hello list, I am looking for a marriage record for John E. Hill of Cork, Ireland and Ellen B. Transom of Madeley, England. According to their 1900 census it shows them married for 16 years which would put them being married at about 1884. Ellen and her family were listed in the 1880 census in Belleview, Campbell Co., KY. Her father was a Cork burner. (Ellen's father, James Transom, was listed in the 1872-73 Bellevue City Directory, so I know he was in the county by that time). Madeley was the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and a place where the first iron was produced (the first iron bridge is still located there), so I'm sure he was somehow recruited or enticed to come to America to help with the iron production here. John was from Cork, Ireland, but was listed as an ironmongers shopman in 1881 in England, so he was most likely also tied to the coal/iron production industry as well. Ellen and John had their first son in Kentucky in 1889, so I'm sure they were most likely married somewhere around the Campbell Co., area for their ca. 1884 marriage. Can anyone tell me where the most likely place to look would be for a marriage for 1884? Blessings, Jill Watters Rains
