    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Pfirman, Lucken, Hiltz Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gAB.2ACI/1961.1.2.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Angela: Census indexes indicate George J. Pelstring was in Decoursey, Kenton Co KY, in 1910. Edward was in Covington in 1910 and in Cincinnati in 1920, age 48 in 1920 or born around 1872. Henry was 51 in Covington in 1920, or born around 1869. George J. Pelstring married Bertha Carrie Pfirman 31 Aug 1898 in Cincinnati, according to information submitted to LDS records. The 1900 Hamilton Co OH, Cincinnati Ward 9, census, Enumeration District 70, Sheet 7A, is hard to read in the Heritage Quest census online, but the original film may be legible. It shows two Pelstring households, adjacent entries. One I believe is George J. and Bertha, he possibly 25 and she 23? If 25 in 1900, George J. would have been born around 1875. The Pelstring household next to him appears to have a single male parent with three sons. Can't make out names or ages. No luck finding the Pelstrings in Ohio in 1870 or 1880. Name may have been misindexed or spelled an unusual way on the census. In Kansas a Pelstring family's name is sometimes spelled as Palstring and Paulstring. Your George is probably the George "Pelstering", occupation joiner, age 22 years and 4 months, who came from Hannover to Baltimore with destination of Cincinnati, in 1860 on board the "Schiller" with Ignatz Lucken. ((Note that Henry "Luecken" was a witness to George's marriage in Cincinnati.) http://www.highbeam.com/library/doc0.asp?docid=1G1:67900704&refid=ink_puballtnews&skeyword=&teaser= http://www.kenton.lib.ky.us/gen/familyfile2.html There's a Pelstring listing in the Family File in the Genealogical & Local History Dept of the Kenton Co Public Library. I suppose this would apply to the family of Henry Pelstring, b ca 1869. Here's his listing from the Covington, Kenton Co KY, 1920 census: HENRY PELSTRING 51 OH GER GER cabinet maker, safe company Ida 36 KY Sylvia 19 KY Wesley 17 KY Vincent 6 KY http://www.highbeam.com/library/doc0.asp?docid=1G1:67900704&refid=ink_puballtnews&skeyword=&teaser= [Excerpt from obituary from The Kentucky Post (Covington, KY); 4/23/1997:] VINCENT E. PELSTRING was a downtown Covington retailer for about 40 years. Mr. Pelstring, 83, of Covington, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday at St. Charles Care Center in Covington. He was a retired owner of Pelstring Paints and a past president of the Covington Optimist Club and Covington Chamber of Commerce. He was one of the original investors in the Northern Kentucky Industrial Park in Florence, said his wife, Cleon Hiltz Pelstring.
