Ellis (are there two of them or one with two marriages) is a son of Dudley Brown Ellis b 1760 in Hanover Co VA and his wife Elizabeth Watts. I have the will and Bible information. There is also a Nelson R Ellis (found his marriage license) that I found in the court house records and I am wondering what connections these folks have as they lived not far from each other. My Ellis are buried at Mentor, Grandview Cemetery and then one of the son in law's has his own tomb on the road above California to Washington Trace Road. William Stuart Dunlop. They were Part of Flagg Spring Baptist and also the Christian Church at California, KY Will of my Dudley Brown Ellis b Nov 1860 VA d.???? Will is dated 12 jun 1837 Will Book C page 36-37 I think I have the probate but have not documented all the papers I got from the courthouse in Kentucky last summer. Lists as children Nelson W who married Martha Ann Wood went to Texas John married Gracy Lewis my line had the family farm, still in the family (current owner Ellis Kinney on Washington Trace Road) Ira went to Texas (found him in census records) David Y (Yancy)(according to family went to Washington state) Nancy who married Richard Clift Mahala who married Joseph Clift died in child birth and son John Dunlop Cliff raised by Richard and Nancy Clift Lucinda who married William Stuart Dunlop Joel who went missing at age 5 according to family legend/information. When I retire in two months, then I can really work on this family. Probably will need a trip to Ky just to work on the Ellis's. Have done the DeCourcy's and Balls now Ellis.
