The George Pelstring, George P. & Company home address matches what I have for him. It was between 12th & 13th streets, they had white stone lions at the front entrance and a rooftop garden. WOW!!!! The George & Henry in 1889 & 1896 are his sons. George & Mary (Maria) had ten children of which Frank & Josephine passed. George Sr passed in 1884 at the age of 46, possibly from TB. I know George started a small grocery store, but don't know where that was. He had a cigar factory on Jackson between 14th & 15th streets, sold it to 3 gentlemen who formed the Columbia Mill Company - I have no dates - the grocery store was after he was ousted from Columbia Mill Co - he remained as General Manager with Columbia Mill Co & received a royalty of $10 per day for his patent of an imitation cedar wood used in making cigar boxes. Columbia finally ousted him because he had no papers confirming the patent.

We know believe that it could have been Haringer as a Marie Haringer married George Pelstring in 1864. The hard part has been trying to narrow down her last name. I know that she passed in 1890, I have found an obituary for her that shows a maiden name of Harencourt??? Also obits for a Barbara Harencourt/Georg Harencourt. Possible this could have been her mother & stepfather. There was no indication of a father accompanying mother & 2 daughters - just an uncle when they came to the US shortly before the civil war.

    1. John Hill/Ellen Transom marriage
    2. Jill Rains
    3. Hello list, I am looking for a marriage record for John E. Hill of Cork, Ireland and Ellen B. Transom of Madeley, England. According to their 1900 census it shows them married for 16 years which would put them being married at about 1884. Ellen and her family were listed in the 1880 census in Belleview, Campbell Co., KY. Her father was a Cork burner. (Ellen's father, James Transom, was listed in the 1872-73 Bellevue City Directory, so I know he was in the county by that time). Madeley was the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and a place where the first iron was produced (the first iron bridge is still located there), so I'm sure he was somehow recruited or enticed to come to America to help with the iron production here. John was from Cork, Ireland, but was listed as an ironmongers shopman in 1881 in England, so he was most likely also tied to the coal/iron production industry as well. Ellen and John had their first son in Kentucky in 1889, so I'm sure they were most likely married somewhere around the Campbell Co., area for their ca. 1884 marriage. Can anyone tell me where the most likely place to look would be for a marriage for 1884? Blessings, Jill Watters Rains

I have found a Maria Pelstring, whose maiden name was Harengert according to the death notice in the German language newspaper called the Cincinnati Volksfreund. Unfortunately the death notice does not list survivors by name. It only says "our mother and mother-in-law. Maria was 46 years old when she died on Wednesday, January 08, 1890. She lived at 805 Main Street in Covington and was buried from Mother of God Church in Covington. I will try to follow up on this death notice in the records of Mother of God church and see if they contain any further information or if I can find any baptisms for Pelstrings about 20 years before this date. 2. I am looking for a burial of Ann Mary/Mary Ann Rothmann/Ruthmann BERST who died between 1847-1850 presumably in Campbell County.I have not been able to find her burial record in the microfilmed Corpus Christi records. I am also looking for the grave of a daughter (might belong to a second wife of Jacob) , no name given, who died on October 10, 1849 and was buried from Corpus Christi Church. The father was Jacob Berst, a stone mason, enumerated in the 1850 census of Campbell County as a single dad with his 3-year-old daughter, Catherine. I was unable to find either burial in St. Stephen Cemetery. Was there another Catholic cemetery that I might check the next time I get to Kenton County? Thanks, Buffy

While living in Newport he and his wife Ann Seeds Thomson lost an infant son, Willie (William?). Their daughter Anna remained in Kentucky after the others had gone to Iowa in 1865, and died in 1872. Questions: do the Newport city directories for this period show any foundries/ironworks, or might have James "commuted" to Cincinnati? Can anyone do a birth lookup for Willie/William Thomson or death lookup for Willie or Anna? Might there have been some kind of court "missing presumed dead" proceeding for James appearing of record after a certain period of time? Thanks in advance for your attention and any help you can give.
