Pelstring was in Decoursey, Kenton Co KY, in 1910. Edward was in Covington in 1910 and in Cincinnati in 1920, age 48 in 1920 or born around 1872. Henry was 51 in Covington in 1920, or born around 1869. George J. Pelstring married Bertha Carrie Pfirman 31 Aug 1898 in Cincinnati, according to information submitted to LDS records. The 1900 Hamilton Co OH, Cincinnati Ward 9, census, Enumeration District 70, Sheet 7A, is hard to read in the Heritage Quest census online, but the original film may be legible. It shows two Pelstring households, adjacent entries. One I believe is George J. and Bertha, he possibly 25 and she 23? If 25 in 1900, George J. would have been born around 1875. The Pelstring household next to him appears to have a single male parent with three sons. Can't make out names or ages. No luck finding the Pelstrings in Ohio in 1870 or 1880. Name may have been misindexed or spelled an unusual way on the census. In Kansas a Pelstring family's name is sometimes spelled as Palstring and Paulstring. Your George is probably the George "Pelstering", occupation joiner, age 22 years and 4 months, who came from Hannover to Baltimore with destination of Cincinnati, in 1860 on board the "Schiller" with Ignatz Lucken. ((Note that Henry "Luecken" was a witness to George's marriage in Cincinnati.) http://www.highbeam.com/library/doc0.asp?docid=1G1:67900704&refid=ink_puballtnews&skeyword=&teaser= http://www.kenton.lib.ky.us/gen/familyfile2.html There's a Pelstring listing in the Family File in the Genealogical & Local History Dept of the Kenton Co Public Library. I can answer those questions. There are numerous books of restored marriage information and they are not online. They cover the period of up to 1888 because that was the year the courthouse burned destroying a lot of records. Several researchers have been creating the restored marriage records by searching old newspapers, church records etc. In general the books cover decades such as 1850-1859. Not all the pre-1888 marraige records burned. I was lucky enough to find a surviving 1852 marriage record for my Great-Great Grandparents. Daryl. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gAB.2ACI/1961.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Angela, I checked the records of St. Francis Seraph church in Cincinnati, Ohio today. I was hoping that the marriage record of George Pelstring and Maria Haringer might contain some information that would allow you to decide whether this is the person for whom you are looking or not. The records are not easy to read in all cases, so I could be missing reading some names, but this is what it appeared to be to me. "George Pelstring married Maria Haringer on May 3, 1864 at St. Francis Seraph Church at Liberty and Vine Streets in Cincinnati, Ohio. The witnesses were Henry Pont and Mary Richter, Bernard Blei and Elizabeth Mag and Henry Luecken and Anna Osterkamp? Pater Eusebius Schmid was the priest." I had hoped that Josephine might have been one of the witnesses, but she is not listed in the record. I then looked at some of the Baptismal records beginning with the middle of 1864 and going through December 31, 1868. The only record I came up with was the following. "Cath. Josephia, born June 3 and baptized June 4, 1865. Father: George Pelstring Mother: Mary Ver. Horen? The godparents were William Maag and ____ Wesveler or Werveler. I am confident that this is the name that you have as Weveler and that the name Maag is the same as the Mag in the marriage record. I am afraid that in my effort to read the name We?veler correctly, I failed to not the first name of the person. I will try to get back soon and find the first name. Again, even though I did not find Josephine's name anywhere, I think that the appearance of the name We?veler gives a pretty good indication that this is in your family And the appearance of the name Mag and Maag in the two records seems to link them together. I have no explanation of what seems to be a different maiden name for the mother from the bride. I did the best reading that I could.
The name is definitely Strub. I have newspapers articles of her marriage. Did your Wilma marry Carl Harris? Rose
Hi Rose, She did not marry a Carl Harris, so it is not my Wilma. Thank you for double checking though! Phyllis The name is definitely Strub. I have newspapers articles of her marriage. Did your Wilma marry Carl Harris?
There should also be an obituary for that time period. The Kenton County Library in Covington has the local newspapers on microfilm. I am sure you have considered that these were the Civil War years......perhaps Thomson was recruited to work for the war effort either for the Confederacy or for the Union in another foundry. Many men from Campbell Co., KY found on BOTH sides of the war. There were at least 10 or 12 from Flag Springs area that went to VA and enlisted for the CSA. One of them was a member of the Beagle family. I found him on a list of SCA imprisoned "deserters". Perhaps she didn't want to move away while he was on duty away from home. Just a thought......his skill was valuable to the war effort and 1863 was right in the middle of the war. Just a thought..... Karen Beagle
Here is a little about the SUTTON family as it is connected to the BLAGRAVE, KENNEDY, and other Campbell Co. families who came from VA. I have been contacted about the SUTTON family by someone else. Here was my reply. Hi there, Somewhere I have a bunch of information sent to me on the DICKEN, BLAGRAVE, SUTTON, and ANDERSON families of VA. Our connection was back to JOSEPH DICKEN who married Mary Jane SUTTON b. VA on Jan 21, 1788 probably in Mercer Co., KY. They later settled in Campbell County. I transcribed the basics into my notes for Joseph Dicken. Here it is. These families all intermarried. "After their father's death, Charles (Dicken)was placed under the guardianship of an older brother RICHARD (Dicken), while Joseph was under an overseer until June 1779 When he enlisted to fight the British. Joseph was among those at Yorktown. Joseph and his brother Charles came to Mercer County, KY the county seat being Harrodsburg, where Joseph married Mary Jane SUTTON on Jan 21, 1788. the SUTTON family had also come from VA. Soon after this (about 1798) they all (BLAGRAVE, KENNEDY, DICKEN, and ANDERSON) moved to Campbell County, KY where ROBERT SUTTON's heir's, his 3 daughters, and their husbands, and his widow, ANN BLAGRAVE, laid claim to his 1,168 and 1/2 acres Land Warrant given earlier to ROBERT SUTTON by the Governor Edmond Randolf of VA on Aug 14, 1782. (this claim is the Kennedy Claim on Well's Creek adjacent to the William Thompson claim on Well's Creek of our Thompson/Beagle family). This is now called Flagg Spring area. This information is published in a book with various KY families in it. I was sent the portion dealing with the DICKEN family and related's. For now......Karen Beagle
