Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gAB.2ACI/2011 Message Board Post: Web site update 4/06/05 http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/ The Historic Atlas Series has been updated to include township and precinct level atlases from Pennsylvania and Kentucky. By popular request, we are currently digitizing more of these kinds of atlas and map data, and will be adding more in the coming weeks. Kentucky: http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/ky_map/ky_index.html Pennsylvania: http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/pa_map/pa_index.html At the present, atlas CD's are offered from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Missouri, West Virginia and Virginia will be added later this year so please feel free to check back often. The Historic Atlas Series may be an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 19th century places and place names. Many early property owners are indicated on the township and precinct level maps making these a great resource for identifying 19th century land ownership. Each atlas includes the following 19th century features: * roads, railroads and canals * cities, towns and villages * post offices and government sites * one-room schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early homesteads and farms * land ownership - and much, much more Details on early maps are often difficult to read and these are no exception; however, by virtue of high resolution Adobe PDF formatting, map documents may be inspected at high levels of magnification without additional digital distortion; something that simply cannot be accomplished with paper reproductions and photocopies. The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images, and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary. The map data has been created and configured using the Adobe Acrobat Reader (6.0) for MS Windows (98, 98SE, XP, NT and 2000). The maps may be viewed in earlier versions of the software as well; however, optimum use of the data can be expected using the Adobe Reader 6.0 that is included on each CD. There are Rawes and Rawls postings. You post and just might find a link. I have on another name. They didn't know about my line so we really helped each other out.
I am searching for my cousins, Aunts and Uncles in the Rawe family. My name is Judith Ann Rawe Shamp. My father was John Albert Rawe. He was raised as John Albert and it wasnt until near the time of his death that he found that his name was actually George Rawe. His Father was George Matthew Rawe who worked making shoes and his mother was Jennie Taulbee. Sometime before the death of George M. Rawe he and Jennie separated and divorced. When he died there was some sort of problems between the two families, the Rawe and Taulbees, and my dad didnt see his dads people again. In 1930 Jennie Taulbee Flynn passed away from the same TB that George Matthew Rawe died from. This left my father with no biological family to turn to; he was an orphan at 16. His stepfather Mr. William Flynn was all that he had left. I know that someone there know the story about the family and what the problem was that tore them all apart. It was sad to know that when my father died none of his Dads folks even sent a card. I want to know my Cousins, Aunts, and Uncles that I never have met and hope that someone can help me out. Once a gentleman, Jim Rawe, sent me a letter, I have since lost contact with him and hope that he will see this and contact me again. His father was my dads half brother. Please, I know so very little about the Rawe family can someone help me. They are all gone now and I am certain that whatever happened should have been buried and forgotten long ago Judith Rawe Shamp silencefair@earthlink.net

Everyone; I think I have answered my own question about the location of Claryville, Kentucky. According to a topographic map/ gazette I found online, Claryville was located on Pond Creek. From previous records on the Potts family, I know that Hiram Potts bought property on Pond Creek, so it is logical that his son would have been born in Claryville - although I had never seen that name before. Any information about the history of the settlement would be of interest. Thanks Ann Bergelt
Hello; for those of you who are not also subscribed to the Kenton Co. KY mailing list, I want to repeat my earlier query. A brother of my great- grandmother (POTTS) was born in Carleyville KY, according to his cemetery record. Someone has been kind enough to suggest that was probably "Claryville" and it was located in Southern Campbell County. His birth was about 1860. Can anyone give me any more information on that community as far as it's exact location, what it was close to, etc. and/or any historical information about it? Thanks, Ann Bergelt Florida
