Amazingly, I lived in Cols., OH for 22 years, and often made the trip to Cinti, with Covington being right across the river! My reserach has only recently led me back to that area, now that I live in Las Vegas!!! Thanks again!

The Licking river divides the two counties with Newport in Campbell County and Covington in Kenton County sitting side by side divided only by the river. The Kenton County Library in Covington has developed a great genealogy section with a special focus on the Northern Kentucky counties. .

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/gAB.2ACI/2028.1 Message Board Post: I can be of some limited help but mainly you need to contact the Kenton County Public Library. Per Kentucky Death Records: Carrie Saunders died 22 December 1917 in Campbell County Kentucky. She was age 41. The death record is in Volume 65, Certificate # 32348. The death certificate will be available on microfilm at the Kenton County Public Library and several other libraries in Kentucky. I searched the on line Northern Kentucky Newspaper index and failed to find a reference to an obit for either Carrie or Oliver Sanders. There likely will be a Newport City Death Record for Carrie Sanders on microfilm at the Kenton Ciounty Library. Depending on where they were buried you might also find church, cemetary or funeral home records. There may also be probate records and guardianship records. The Kenton County library can search most of those records.
You need to try the social security death index which may give you information. The Kenton County Library has microfilm of all the northern Kentucky and Cincinnati newspapers in that time period. However they are the whole paper day by day or week by week. So you need to narrow the time frame. They will, for a fee do a search for you. But don't think they will do a whole year. You should be able to find the date through the Kentucky Archives in Frankfort. I am trying to locate one for Carrie B. SAUNDERS (nee: FRYE), who died in Newport, KY in 1917. I don't have an exact date, but the year should be correct. I obtained it from a letter her daughter wrote in 1930. Carrie was my gggf's (Oliver SAUNDERS) second wife. Tragically, he died in 1910, leaving two small children. Mildreth Olivia SAUNDERS was just in diapers. Her brother, Gifford Frye SAUNDERS, was only a year or so older. Then, they were orphaned when their mother died. Although the children were born in Fleming Co., KY, apparently, their mother moved them to Newport after their father's death--perhaps to get closer to a support system. Somehow, she too died, and the children were moved through a succession of unscrupulous foster homes. The caretakers were just trying to get their hands on the children's father's Civil War pension money. (Their father, Oliver, had been a member of the USCT.) Though I have scant information on what happened to Mildreth, who eventually became known as "Mildred," I do not have a clue as to the eventual whereabouts of Gifford. Both had been sent away to school (Mildred to St. Francis DeSales Institute; and Gifford to St. Emma's College, in Rock Castle, VA). Mildred reappears in Arizona the 1960's, after an older half-brother died. She eventually married and obtained the surname, "HARVEY." She then died in the late '80's in Cincinnati. I am hoping that there might be a clue in Carrie's obituary as to where she is buried, and what other family members may exist on her side of the family. Needless to say, I would be thrilled if anyone could offer assistance.

Here is what I have on EDMOND TAYLOR of Campbell County in my data base. An EDMOND TAYLOR was married to MARY TODD HINDE on November 1, 1803 in Campbell County, KY. There was also an EDMOND TAYLOR who was named the guardian of JANE THOMPSON who was married Dec 24, 1810 to JOHN J. WATSON. (These may be the same person or two different generations.) Note: Campbell County Marriages 1795-1840 copied by Cathey Kraft. Hope this helps. Karen Beagle

She does not have a lot of info. Her father, William Joseph Brenner, Jr, was born in 1907 in Chicago. They later moved to Covington, Kentucky. His mother's name was Cynthia Ann Rankin, she was from Williamstown, Kentucky, from a farm family. She died when William was very young and he was sent to live with his aunt, his father's sister, Mary Tschudy, also in Covington. Mary was married to a policeman.

My gggrandmother we called Hattie, had Essie(my great grandmother) supposedly she married again to a Charles Garrison....at least that is what it shows in the the census records in 1920. I was told that her maiden name was Greenleaf or something like that. My great grandmother married a Riley and had my grandmother (we call her mary but was told that wasnt her real name) and she married a Switzer first then a Simpson. It shows that they started out living in near the Cin. Ohio area and some moved into the Ky. side. If none of this sounds familiar maybe you might have received similar info. elsewhere and can share it with me. Thanks again.
