Hi Daryl, I will most certainly follow up on the Ky. newspaper clippings that you found and also do an obituary search for the area of New York that Anna Robinson possibly died in. Thank you for suggesting places to search and giving me a nudge in the right direction. Thank you for everything!!! Regards, Lorna Daryl wrote: >Hi Lorna, > >It is always fun tracing the Robinsons. Hi Lorna, It is always fun tracing the Robinsons. I had a John Robinson that died in Newport in 1912 but I think I can safely say there is no connection with your group.. If I were you my first stop would be the Kenton County Public Library in Covington because they have old city directories covering Newport and also old newspapers on microfilm which have a partial index available through their website at : http://www.kenton.lib.ky.us/genealogy.html I checked the Kentucky death index and found an Anna Robinson that died in Campbell County in 1913 but the age seemed wrong. The newspaper index showed an obituary listing that Anna as mother of Lafayette Robinson so I ruled her out. Then I found a couple of interesting stories in the index. One dated 29 Jul 1914 is titled "Died in Buffalo" and has the subject listed as Anna Robinson. One dated 31 July 1914 is titled "Funeral on Saturday" and the subject is listed as Anna E. Robinson. You would need the microfilm to say for sure but I think your Anna died in New York and was brought back to Kentucky just like her husband was several years later. There is also several articles in November 1906 regarding the trial of Lena Schott who was charged with pushing Anna Robinson. I don't know if that was your Anna Robinson or not without seeing the articles. I tried to find an obituary for your John Robinson but didn't find one after a quick search. I didn't try the children's names but you might find some information on them in the online index. I hope that is some help. Hi Loma, You didn't give a name or date to narrow things down but your best place to go is almost certainly outside of Newport. The Campbell County Historical Society has a lot of records and is located in the City of Alexandria on the second floor of the Alexandria Court House. They are open 10-3 on Saturdays. Another great site for local history and genealogy research is the Kenton County public library in Covington (just across the Licking River from Newport). they will have some things you won't find in the Campbell County Historical Society including state wide death certificates for 1911-1954 and newspapers on microfilm. They are open 10-5 on Saturdays. The biggest cemetery in Campbell County is Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate where they have somethng like 80,000 peopled buried between about 1847 and now. Last I knew they were open from about 8 or 9 a.m. until noon on Saturdays. Of course they are not the only local cemetery. Give me some names, dates and locations (I assume Newport) and I might be able to help you narrow your search down a bit. Are you making the trip Saturday July 23rd or is this sometime in the future? Hello all, I would like to head to Newport to try and find out where at my ancestor is buried at in the town of Nerwport. Are there death records / cemetery records available? Is the local genealogy library open on Saturdays? If so, where is it? As you can see... I don't have a "Clue" as to where I'm going in Newport, so any suggestions on places to visit to search records would be most welcome! <G> Thanks! Lorna

My Gr parents were in Newport but their families were around Alexandria. My GrGrGrmother was Anna Marie Schmidt and she married a Johannes Weinel. Their daughter was Anna Marie Weinel and she married William Albert Youtsey. This was before your dates. Don't know much about the Schmidts other than they came from Mittel-Grundau, Germany. Anna Marie Schmidt had a brother John Schmidt who married a Josephine ? Also had a sister Katherine but this was before your dates between 1846 and 1919. If you can give me a little more info maybe I can help you. Also I noticed in one of your other queries that you have some Darlingtons in your family, that was my maiden name and my dads family were from WV. Do you have any info on this family? I just looked at some other info that I have and found an Anna Elizabeth Smith with sisters Amelia Louise and Katherine Louise and brother Harry John Smith. I know that these names are off but that is what I have. They were the children of Anna Marie Hess and William Conrad Smith. Don't know any marriage dates. Let me know if any of this makes sense. MAM

I realize that many researchers subscribe to multiple lists and probably don't want to receive more than one copy of the same message; however, I'm trying to reach as wide an audience of Kentucky historians and genealogists as possible so please bear with me. We are actively engaged in digitizing scarce and out-of-print 19th century map and atlas data for use in genealogical and historical research of this period of Kentucky's history. Each month we receive a number of requests for specific material; either individual maps of a specific region or county atlases from a specific period. Until now, there has been no urgency to document requests for material, and the requests have been handled more or less piecemeal. With this in mind, the short questionnaire below was developed. If you are interested in hard to find research material that is configured for compatible access from your computer, please take a couple of minutes to respond to the five questions below by e-mailing me directly off-list. questions@historic-atlas-series.com Again, thank you for your time and cooperation. 1.) What features are you most interested in when using 19th century atlases and maps in your research? Land owners? Industrial or Commercial site locations? Place names? Transportation routes? 2.) What statistical and historical atlas data do you find most useful in your research? Population? Agriculture? Geological Data? County Histories? Biographical Sketches? Illustrations of People and Places? 3.) What specific region or regions of Kentucky are you most interested in? Please list all counties of interest and any specific material you would like to have computer access to. Include any known bibliographic references. 4.) For general material listed in question 3, please provide the periods of time or date ranges of interest. Again, for specific requests please provide bibliographic reference. 5.) When using research material that has been formatted for computer access, which is the most important: Resolution and detail of the images for printing? Speed of loading and access? Thank you for taking the time to reply to this questionnaire. questions@historic-atlas-series.com We value the input of folks who ultimately will use research material that has been configured for use electronically. Your comments, suggestions and requests for material will be recorded and prioritized, and will influence the kinds of material we continue to make available for researchers such as yourselves. I asked the Kenton County Library to copy and send me some information from newspapers on my family lines. It took about 8 weeks, but they were very thorough and sent a computer printout of abstracts for all newspapers with the surnames I gave them. I then gave them the specific articles I wanted copied and they did that too. (for a charge). They have copies of all KY newspapers going way back on microfilm. You can find everything on your ancesters that was ever in print on newspaper. It is great! Don't remember what they charged, but it was reasonable for research, copy and postage charges. Due to several emails I've received concerning individuals missing from the Muster Rolls, I've made two changes to my War of 1812 webpage. I will accept, and post, comments to individuals already included in the Rolls, and I'll accept information on individuals not shown on the Rolls if family history indicate the ancestor fought at the Battle For Meigs. These individuals are listed in the "Lost Souls" section which can be reached from the opening page. The first "Lost Soul" was from Campbell County. This will be available to those individuals who were members of the Kentucky Militia during the period of May 1 - 5, 1813 and fought at the Battle for Fort Meigs. Hello! I am looking for information on Lydia Pyle SIMPKINSON. She was born in Kentucky to Lemuel and Eliza (Willison) Pyle. I found that she lived at Clovis in the 1910 US Census. Her occupation was stenographer. In 1920, she was listed as the manager of the Simpkinson Hotel in Pasadena, California. She was also an investor and vice-president of the Dardanelles Mining Company located at Chloride, AZ. Her sister was Alice Crance who died in California. Her brother, Emery C. Pyle died in Tucson, AZ but lived in California. He was an attorney. Interestingly, Lydia's obituary appeared in a Curry County newspaper Jan 27, 1963 after her death on Jan 24, 1963 in California at the age of 91. Any information (other than census records) would be appreciated. My research is on the Dardanelles Mining Co. and the people who were involved with the mine. It is a part of a larger research project that spans 25 years. I appreciate your help and I'm willing to pay for copies. Thank you! Trish Coos Bay, Oregon "For I know the plans that I have for you.
