    2. Dear Andy, I agree with Annette, that perhaps not all Flagg Springs Cemetery burials are documented. Some of the listings go back to records of 1960's and they cannot be found now (slid over the hill, or stones damaged, removed, etc). Even in the 1960's, there were stones that were unreadable. Some of the burials were noted in the Flagg Springs Baptist Church notes (combed through by Jean Houston of Florence, KY and documented) but not found physically in the cemetery. She and others put together many of the original cemetery listings for Campbell Co. back in the 1960's. If you have a primary record that states he was buried at Flagg Springs, he probably was. You may want to send a copy of your record to the Historical society to add a note to the Flagg Springs cemetery records. Sincerely, Karen Beagle (my husband is related to Jean Houston, above, back through the CON BEAGLE's buried at Flagg Springs Baptist Church). They were founding members when the church was established in 1833.

    3. Karen: Thank you so much for your messages. I'll send a copy of Robert's death record to the Hist Soc. That's the record saying he's buring in Flagg Springs, but it doesn't say in which cemetery. Do you know of a D. F. Beegle? Robert's parents were David R. and Martha Ann (Sallee) Williams. David was a carpenter, builder, inventor, "manufacturer of sashes, doors, blinds, etc." in Covington. In the 1874 Covington directory there's this listing: WILLIAMS MACHINE CO. (David R. Williams, D. F. Beegle and J. & Samuel Williams), mnfrs. of wood working machinery, 71 Pike. David Williams was born in Schellsburg, Bedford Co, Pennsylvania. [I see in one of your online queries your Beagles came from Bedford Co VA.) There are Beegles in Bedford Co PA, so I'm wondering about a connection there. I haven't located D. F. Beegle in the census, so don't know when or where he was born. Robert was commander of a battery during the Civil War. Known first as "The Williams Guns", or the R. S. Williams Battery, later as Schoolfield's Battery. One of the members is listed in one roster as "Beagle, Beaver" and in another as "Beagle, John T. Beaver". Do you know of a connection between your husband's Beagle family and Civil War Gen. Basil Duke? Campbell Co mrg recd shows Robert's bride as Charlotte E. Bailey. In the 1870 census she's listed as Lotty. Her name was probably Charlotte Elizabeth, and so known to George Young as Lizzie. Transcription of the mrg recd online has mrg date as July 3 rather than 5, 1858. If Robert was a closer relative I'd send for a photocopy of the record to see which is correct, but I'll leave that up to his descendants. Talked to two of his great-grandddaughters a couple days ago. The Covington librarian who I asked for help on the Williamses happened to know one of them personally. Any chance I could get a photocopy or a scan of Mr. Young's original diary entry of Robert and Lizzie's marriage? I suppose you would have told me if there were any other Bailey entries in the journal, but I'll ask anyway. She's listed as born in England in the 1860 census, and the only other census she could have been listed in says b KY. She died around 1873. Once census her daughter was in said her mother was b England; others say b KY. I suspect England is correct, but I can't find a Bailey family from England in the Campbell Co area to tie her into. He baptized me as a child and was the pastor at St. Anthony church in Bellevue at the time of his death of September 29, 1956. I think he is buried in the Priests' cemetery in Erlanger, KY. The History of the Diocese of Covington, which was published in 1953 for the Centennial celebration of the diocese, gives the following information about him. "Coleman, Rt. Rev. Msgr.
