Both Roy and Nola are listed as single and white. They were married on March 9, 1961. Ray Stormer, a minister of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newport performed the ceremony. Roy's age is given as 21, the place of his birth is Manchester, Ky and his residence is Newport, KY. His father is Robt. Sizemore and his mother is Mary (no maiden name given). His occupation is given as laborer. Nola Marie Anderson's age is given as 19, the place of her birth is Whitley County, KY and her residence is Cincinnati, OH. Her father is given as Gumie Anderson and her mother as Flora (no maiden name given) The witnesses are George Justice and Paul S. Gonsoulin? This last name is not very legible, so what I have is just my best guess about the name. I hope this is of some help to you. Bob

Have you checked the marriage records for Bracken County, KY? You mentioned that the parents of Maybelle lived in Bracken Ky. There is no town of Bracken, Ky that I know of. But Bracken County touches on Campbell County. The county seat of Bracken County is Augusta, Ky. The law in Kentucky permits a person to obtain a marriage license in any county in the state. It also allows the person to be married in any county in the state. But the marriage is recorded in the County in which the license was obtained. So it is very possible that the marriage license was obtained in Bracken county. If so, that is the county in which the record would be found. The marriage may have taken place in Bracken County or it may have taken place in Campbell County or any other county in the State, but the record would be in the county were the license was obtained. I hope this enables you to find the record. If not, please let me know and I will check the marriage records for Kenton county which is right across the Licking river from Campbell County. Bob

As you noted they were married on June 15, 1940. The person performing the ceremony was Rev. Arthur T. Tipton, a minister of the Christian Church (not a Justice of the Peace). They were both single and white> The husband's age is given as 23 and the place of his birth and his residence are both given as Columbus, OH. His father's first name is Frank and his mother's first name is Ethel (no maiden name given). His occupation is given as stock clerk. Katherena's age is given as 21. Her place of birth is given as Yale or Yole, Illinois (I cannot find either spelling in the Atlas that I have). Her residence is Columbus, OH. Her father's first name is given as Corwin and her mother's first name is Helen (no maiden name given). The witnesses of the marriage are William Cunningham and Helen Snyder. I was unable to find a record for a marriage of William Cunningham and Helen Snyder in the Campbell County records. The names William Cunningham and Helen Snyder both appear in the records; but there is no instance in which they married one another. I will have to check in Kenton County to see whether they may have obtained a license there. In Kentucky one may obtain a marriage license in any county in the state and be married in any county in the state. But the marriage record is kept in the county where the license was issued. Newport and Covington are separated only by the Licking River. So it is possible that they may have obtained there license in Covington and been married in Newport. But the record would be house in Covington. Bob

Recently there was a question about St. Josephs Orphanage that was answered by a retired Priest name Bob. I'm wondering Bob might be able to enlighten us where we might be able to find the information on two matters. Firstly, if a child born out of wedlock in 1890's could be Baptized? Secondly, if someone were to commit suicide in or about 1880's could they receive Catholic Church Rights? Both these incidents are from Newport, Kentucky. If Bob does not wish to address these issues on Rootsweb, please e-mail us off list. Jack & Gail Sexton [email protected]

Hi again Andy, I believe Jean Houston of Florence, KY has the original journal of George Mansfield Young. He is her direct ancestor. I believe she only sent me portions of it as I was interested. I just happened to enter the other information as it appeared in the portions she sent to me. He especially talked about farming, weather, and who died, and who had gotten married! Since these notes were in the pre-1900 period, there is a lot of useful information. What happened is that I have entered every tidbit on every pioneer Flagg Springs family and Campbell Co. pioneer, especially as mentioned in documents such as diaries, church minutes, etc. that are not in published form. I have a huge computer data base of names and tidbits of early Campbell county families, especially from 12 Mile Baptist and Flagg Springs Baptist church minutes. I also have combed cemetery records, some marriage records, military records, etc. as I come across them in my research, as well as 1810 Census data of families in the area. Since there were 14 children of Thomas and Cecelia Wine Beagle, and all of their descendants and there were 9 children of William Thompson and wife Nancy Drinkard, they were intermarried into a lot of those early neighboring pioneer Campbell County families! They were closely associated with Flagg Springs Baptist Church families for over 70 years. Please email me at [email protected] I can give you Jean's e-mail privately and you can ask her for the pages you need. I will email you directly about Beagle Civil War connections. Sincerely, Karen Beagle

More on Robert S. Williams: I have a Journal entry of George Mansfield Young for LIZZY BAILEY. His diary: July 5, 1858: Lizzy Bailey married Robert Williams. Also: Church Minutes for Flagg Springs Baptist Church in 1874...Donation of 5.00 given for the maintenance of the church by AUGUSTA WILLIAMS. (This could be his mother). George Mansfield Young is direct ancestor of Jean Houston. He married Leannah Littleton Mitchell, a daughter of KATHERINE BEAGLE BEVER MITCHELL. Katherine is buried at Flagg Springs Baptist Church cemetery along with a daughter, as well as her brother CON BEAGLE, Francis Thompson Beagle (his wife) and others of this large family. Hope this helps...I looked him up in my data base and found this note. Karen Beagle
