My friends - Today we are going to move down to Calloway County and continue our review of some of the early newspaper snippets from the Murray Ledger. In keeping with my pledge, made about two years ago, to occasionally present material that reaches into the 20th century, these snippets will cover the period of about 1907 to about 1912. For those who may be new subscribers, these snippets are taken from the newspaper(s) of the era, and may contain anything from a simple notice that someone from out of town is visiting someone else, to marriage and death notices, and obituaries, and, occasionally, murder trials and stories - it can be just about anything. It harks back to a time when most people in an area knew everyone else, and even information about out of town visitors was of interest to the readers of these newspapers. Subscribers to the lists which I host who see a name in the listing below on which the full text of the snippet is desires can send a request directly to me for that information. I will ask, since some of these snippets can be quite lengthy, that no more than three (3) snippets from the listing below be requested.
