I have found your Joseph A. Scruggs. In the 1860 Calloway Co., Ky. census he is listed as 15 yrs old. His father is William A. Scruggs, born in Ky. He was a farmer. Joseph's mother was Mary C. (St. John), born N. Carolina. Joseph's siblings were: John M. age 12 Lucy A. age 10 William C. age 6 Mary S. age 4 (Susan Mary - born 29 October 1857) Celia G. age 5 mo. Joseph and all siblings born in Kentucky according to this census. Mary E. Blythe's mother's first name was Susan P. (Susan born in Tennessee) If I can be of more help just let me know. Kelly
