My friends - As we resume our data posts today, we are going to return to a series in Calloway County that has been dormant for awhile. I am referring to the Newspaper Snippets which I have posted from time to time in the period of 1875-1910. Many of these came from the Murray Gazette, while others were from other Calloway newspapers. These snippets run from the mundane to the fascinating, covering everything from the description of a fine hat worn by a stylish woman to lengthy death notices and marriage ceremony descriptions, as well as criminal and lunacy pieces - so you never know what you may get. Even if the snippet does not further the lineage, it is often a tiny window into the times in which our forbears lived. Subscribers to the lists which I host can obtain the full text of the snippet on an individual shown in the listing below by sending a request directly to me. Due to the length of some of these snippets, I will ask, as I have before, that no more than 3 snippets be requested from this list. Time constraints would prevent me from doing more than that. As always, your continuing assistance in not resending this entire message back to me with the request is greatly appreciated. As a follow-up to my FYI of yesterday on the Proctor and Calloway Grantee Map orders - I went in to see my person at Office Depot today concerning the mailing tubes, and, of their order for 100, they had received 10. She had held all of them for me, and the warehouse has informed the that the remaining 90 will arrive Wednesday or Thursday. As a result, I will be sending out 10 maps or map sets tomorrow. I now have about 30 orders in hand, adding those which arrived today. I will get the remainder of them out just as rapidly as those mailing tubes arrive. Tomorrow, we will move back to Graves County. -B ============================================================================== Calloway County - Early Newspaper Snippets - Part 6 Douglass, J.
