My friends - I am stopping by to pass along the sad news that our good friend in genealogy, Peggy Brown Chapman, died on November 8th in Lubbock, Texas, which was her home. She had been diagnosed earlier this year with a rare form of liver cancer. Peggy was our resident expert on the Baker, Martin, Gordon and Grayson lines of Western Kentucky, including the Jackson Purchase counties of Calloway and Marshall. Her book, "Bakers of Western Kentucky", is a wealth of information about these families, which will remain as a legacy to all descendants everywhere. She was a valued member of both the JP and Calloway lists, and was always ready to help and anxious to learn more about these families about which she knew so much and loved so well. She will be sorely missed. In September, I purchased the rights to Peggy's book about the Baker, Martin, Gordon and Grayson families of Western Kentucky(mentioned above). She was anxious that her data be preserved and its availability be continued, and I am honored to fill that role. If you wish to read a bit more on Peggy and she her photograph, Kay Martin has placed it on a web site, located here: http://home.att.net/~sunimaze/ I will return later today with a file offering. -B ==========================================================================
