    1. [KYCALLOWAY] Miscellaneous Files - Calloway County - Temple Hill Cemetery
    2. Bill Utterback
    3. My friends - I am stopping by today to pass along an offering for another item from the "Miscellaneous Files" which I have contained on the several hundred old 5 inch floppies that I have from "the early days" of computers, when we had to insert a floppy disk to even boot up the system. This one was particularly stubborn to convert, and required about 3 hours of work, but it finally came out in workable form. Today's item is one for which I have had a number of requests over the past few years - Temple Hill Cemetery in Calloway County. This is a large cemetery with several hundred burials. The earliest known burials are in the 1850's, but the cemetery very likely dates back further, well into the 1840's. The surnames included in the known burials at Temple Hill include Allen, Anderson, Bailey, Barnett, Bates, Baucom, Beale, Biffle, Bishop, Bland, Crisp, Colson, Calhoun, Byars, Cain, Burkeen, Burchett, Brandon, Bowerman, Cullen, Curd, Dixon, Dodd, Futrell, Douglas, Drennon, Duncan, Dunn, Edwards, Eldridge, Elliott, Emmerson, Falwell, Fulcher, Hill, Hicks, Herndon, Galloway, Goodwin, Gordon, Greer, Griffin, Grogan, Hamlin, Hampton, Hardin, Harris, Hartsfield, Holland, Holden, Hopkins, Imes, Jackson, Jones, Lamb, Keel, Keys, Lee, Love, Mahan, Madding, Marshall, Mathis, McCall, McCulley, McDaniel, McKinnie/McKinney, Morris, Miller, Nanny, O'hern, Peeler, Peters, Phillips, Powell, Pryor, Rogers, Ray, Rayburn, Robertson, Ryan, Schroader, Taylor, Tarry, Swindell, Shoemaker, Smith, Stalls, Stroud, Todd, Tolly, Trice, Trevathan, Tubbs, Vaughn, Wade, Wells, Waldrop, Wallace, Washburn, Weatherford, Williams, Woodall, Whitlock and Wolfe. Subscribers to the JP and Calloway lists can obtain a copy of this file by sending a request directly to me, asking for the "Temple Hill File". The file is available in both Plain Text and Adobe Acrobat PDF formats. Plain Text will be supplied unless PDF is requested. The file will be sent as an attachment to an e-mail message. It can be sent in the body of an e-mail message if attachments are not workable, but doing so will often badly skew the alignment of the contents. If the file must be sent in that fashion, please specify that the file is needed as a "Straight E-Mail Message". I should point out, too, that this file contains burials up to about 1966. As a result, there will be some death dates missing, inasmuch as some people born in the late 1870's and onward were still living in 1966. The advantage to having an earlier "reading" of any cemetery is that stones that may have been only marginally legible(but still readable)in the early 1960's might be completely illegible by the time of the next reading, which is usually 20-40 years later, if it is ever done again at all. As a result, if I have to choose between an earlier or a later reading, I will go with the earlier one every time. I hope all have been enjoying a pleasant weekend. -B =========================================================================
