I do not have any direct information about Gipson/Gibson families in Calloway Co., KY, but I have come across the name Gipson twice in researching my families in Calloway Co. I am not aware of any famous Gipsons who could be used as name sources, so probably the use of the name would have been from related families. That assumption led me to progress in researching my Wells family. The brother of my GG-Grandfather Wells was Julius Gipson Wells. Searching for the name Julius Gipson led me to Mercer County, KY Gibsons and eventually to Green Co., KY. It turns out that the grandmother of Julius Gipson Wells was Anny Gibson who married Alexander Carson. I am not aware that any of those Gibsons/Gipsons moved to Calloway as did my Wells ancestors. The other occurrence of Gipson was in my Holland family. Emanuel Gipson Holland was the brother of my Great Grandmother Rebecca Holland. They were the children of Josiah Holland and Malinda Miller. Josiah Holland was the son of Daniel Holland and Rebecca Skinner and was born in Robertson Co. in middle Tennessee. Daniel Holland was born in Edgecombe Co., NC. Those two counties might be a good place to search for your Gibsons/Gipsons. Hope this helps. > Date: Mon, 23 Jan 2006 17:24:10 -0600 > From: "holt" <holt@vci.net> > Looking for any information on the Gibson families in this area, and for the > individual below. Hello and thank you so much for your information. It always helps and provides clues for other areas in which to search for them. Quite a few of the Gibsons were also next door to you in Henry County TN and then all the other surrounding counties here in Western Ky as well. I see you mentioned Robertson county TN and Edgecombe County NC, our Trevathan line came from both those areas as well. They married into the both the Gibson and Haggard families. Making all three of my lines related to each other through the numerous marriages. Thanks so much for your email and have a wonderful week.
