My friends - I want to make our list subscribers aware that preliminary discussions are underway directed toward the appearance in Murray, in the late September time frame, of a gentleman who has, for the past sixteen years, been presenting a program recreating the life and times of one of our Revolutionary War soldiers who resided, in his later years, and died, in Calloway County. His presentation, in full and historically accurate dress, was developed originally for elementary school students at about the 5th grade level, but is well adapted for adult and general audiences as well. His research on the soldier has been extensive, and he is meticulous in his desire to present historically accurate material. This brought him into contact with me some months ago. I have seen a small part of his presentation, and found it to be fascinating. I am very hopeful that we can bring it to the JP region, for two appearances - the elementary students and the general public. As far as I can determine, although we see battle re-creations in the area, this will be the first time that an actual RW soldier who resided in the JP area has been used for a large scale character recreation. If these presentations can be arranged, we are very hopeful that descendants of the soldier will be able to be in attendance. I am very much enthused at the possibility of having a part in making this happen. I will be honored to be present, and to be his host while he is in Murray. As soon as these preliminary discussions are concluded satisfactorily, I will report back to the List with the full details about his presentation, the soldier he portrays, and other information.
