Many thanks to those who sent me information about the Ivy Cemetery near Murray, Calloway Co, KY. I went this past weekend and found even more than I expected to find! Robert C. Ivie's grave is right next to the graves of John Ivie & Elizabeth E. (Wells) Ivie and their daughter Julia Ivie. The proximity adds credence to the probability that Robert C. is a son of John & Elizabeth. We have recently discovered that Robert is my g-g-grandfather and the father of my g-grandfather William A. Ivie. I knew these four graves were supposed to be there, but in looking at the headstones nearby, I discovered two more g-g-grandparents! William A. Ivie's wife was Nancy E. Wells, and we knew from her death certificate that her parents were R. M. & Nancy (Thomas) Wells but that was absolutely all we knew about them. Well, right behind the Ivie graves were the graves of Rubin M. and Nancy Wells! I confess, tears came to my eyes! I suspect that this property was originally Ivie property. The four Ivie's and Rubin & Nancy Wells are the oldest graves there. The cemetery was very well kept, so maybe a descendant still owns the property. Would anyone know anything about this? I'll transcribe the dates I copied and post them later this week. I got home too late last night to do this.
