My friends - Good news - I received the return of my main computer late today and all now seems to be well and working again. For those interested in what the problem may have been - it turned out that Windows XP is compatible with Norton Anti-Virus and Norton Firewall only if those programs are uninstalled from the previous operating system, and then reinstalled in XP. I had both of these under Windows ME, and did not get them uninstalled. I ended up with three firewalls, in effect, blocking access to my broadband connection, and, in fact, even to my analog dial-up. So, for those of you thinking of upgrading to XP - bear in mind that all firewall and anti-virus programs need to be uninstalled before upgrading to XP, and then re-installed again. With the return of my machine, I am beginning to fill the large backlog of image requests from Graves County Order Book G. With more than 100 of them, it will take a few days. I also still have a number of requests from the Marshall County VS birth records that are still in queue. Please bear with me over the next few days, as I work through this backlog. Once I have gone through all of the requests that I have, I will post that fact to the JP List, and anyone who did not receive a response can request the items again. I was unable to post last night due to an outage of my broadband ISP altogether, so today's posting covers the one that was going to go out yesterday. This post is another in our series of early newspaper snippets of Calloway County. This group is primarily in the 1909-1910 time frame. These snippets cover everything from insignificant items such as visitation notices to death notices and obituaries, criminal acts, mental aberrations and many other subjects. One never knows what may be contained in these snippets. Subscribers to the JP and Calloway lists can obtain the full text of these snippets by sending a request to me. Due to the length of some of these items, I would ask that no more than 3 snippets be requested. And your continuing assistance in not resending this entire message back to me with the request is appreciated. Tomorrow, we will look at another JP law case. -B ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Calloway County - Early Newspaper Snippets - Continued Jones, Polk Bratton, Arthur Mathis, Chester | Haynes, Kessie |marriage Jones, Pierce Hobson, Mellie Breslin, Joseph (insanity) Burnett, Marion Short, Tom (death) Linn, Reuben Farley, Lupton Lewis, John (death) Utterback, Joseph Cephus (murdered by Clancy McCool of Trigg Co.)
