    1. Thompson, Calhoun, and Stevens
    2. My ancestor is Lucretia Calhoun who, I am reasonably confident, was a sister of Gracey Calhoun who married James W. Thompson. Lucretia Calhoun married a John Stevens in Caldwell Co, KY, in March 1813. (Her uncle Edward Mithusson gave his consent for her marriage.) Lucretia and John somewhat later moved into the Jackson Purchase area that became Graves County where he appears to have died around 1828. A John D. Stevens appears on tax lists of the Jackson Purchase during the 1820s. When he disappears from the tax list, Lucretia Stevens begins to appear as head of a household on the tax list. In any event, I found a John D. Stevens household in the 1820 census for Caldwell Co, page 32. This household contains several "extra children" -- six in total which seems to be more than Lucretia could have borne in just 7 years. I have wondered in the past -- because I have not yet been able to find any trace of James W. and Gracey Calhoun Thompson after their marriage in 1815 -- if James and Gracey died and some of these "extra" children in her sister Lucretia's household could have belonged to them. Of course that's only speculation; but has anyone else found any mention of James W. and Gracey Calhoun Thompson at any time after their 1815 marriage? The other probable sister of Lucretia and Gracey Calhoun was Emeranda Calhoun who married William Stevens, a son of Elijah Stevens, in Caldwell Co. in February 1817. This family remained in Caldwell Co. and can be traced through the census and will records of the county. I will be eager to hear anything that anyone else knows about Gracey and James W. Thompson after their marriage. Regards, Betty Ravenholt
