Hi Pat: The information as to James parents must have come from Scarlett McDaniel. I wish I knew where her research is, because maybe we could straighten some things out. While I am writing thought I would mention again that James Hall did not have a child named Casty who married a Cowles. He had 12 children. I have been trying to run this down. I know that Rebecca who married Henry Cowles was a Sampson. Court records show that she was Rebecca Hall, widow, when she married Henry. I am leaning toward her being the widow of Charles Hall. Charles never appeared on any census or tax list in Caldwell that I could find and I believe he was either the brother of Martin or James or both.and was young when he died. I believe somewhere I saw where there was a Hall boy living with Rebecca and Henry, but as usual I didn't write down where I saw it. I have never believed that Charles Hall was the father of our Martin. I am still working on the Joseph Hall that died in Laurens Co SC.as being a brother. By the way, I finally found a ggrandaughter of James Hezikiah Hall, brother of John E. but after she contacted me the last two times I tried to e-mail her it bounced. Are you going to be at the Hall reunion Saturday?
