I have a marriage bond dating Oct. 1817. The father of the groom is listed in the body of the document along with the groom where they pledge the 50#s bond money. And the father signs at the bottom as well as the groom. Does this indicate that the groom was underage? Was "age" then 21 years like it is now? thanks, Janice
