    3. Hi Listers, Received this letter this Monday Morn. Would like to share with all.. I wrote to all 38 Ky. Senators over the weekend and so far this is the only reply.. Ken G. ********************************************************************* Kenneth, Thank you for your e-mail regarding House Bill 523. I, too, oppose this piece of legislation for the reason you mentioned. This would be devastating to the people that are trying to trace there ancestors. This would be wrong for Kentucky to pass a law of this nature. Thank you for your concerns. If I can be of assistance to you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am a genealogist. I am originally from Princeton, Ky. and travel a lot back "Down Home" as most genealogists do. Doesnt this translate to a lot of Tourism dollars? Kentucky is a gateway state to the opening of the midwest and west, therefore, her records are very, very important to a lot of genealogist. I am very disturbed about the contents of this bill, HB523, restricting the flow of public records to the extent it is approaching the definition of a police state, with records in the "Top Secret" category. Birth records are a public record, even as in most smaller locations they are published in the daily or weekly newspaper, listing a lot more info than we can get from websites on line. Death records are being published every day in every newspaper in the free world. Yet this bill aims to restrict that piece of information also. I would appreciate your help in defeating this piece of legislation. Very Sincerely Yours, Ken Gilkey
