At the request of Negro BEN a man of colour the following pass is ordered to be recorded towit "Sullivan State of Tennessee Beaver Creek Iron works May 12th 1806. To Whom it may concern Whereas the bearer a negro man slave BEN is desirous to go with his wife and children to Mr. John A. McCLINTOCK of Eddyville Kentucky to live With or near her his wife during his or her natural life these are therefore to request all persons with whom he may be concerned to treat him with justice and humanity. James KING The Said negro is about thirty three years of age Knockneed, and should he at any [p. 155--] time choose to come to me or my family this will be his pass given under my hand the day and year above Written, James KING of B.C.I.W.
