    3. In addition to the information from Judi, ---- here is a bit more about the nightriders. Somewhere in one of my books I have an account of how they just about burned Hopkinsville to the ground, on one of their raids. I'm going to look it up and read it again. There is an old family story that one of my grandfathers was a nightrider. Also, I read that they took it upon themselves to keep people in line--- if a man wasn't being good to his family, he was paid a visit in the night and taught a few manners.
