What were the Night Riders? Rae Ann in San Francisco (related to the Wadlingtons)
Hi Rae Ann, it's me, Judi. I have an excerpt from the book "Riders in the Night". It is the story of the revolt of the tobacco growers against the American Tobacco Company, and the organization of a resistance movement know as the "Night Riders", which undertook by whip, firebrand and gun to break the hold of the "Trust". The "Hillbillies" growers who continued to deal with the Trust were forcefully brought into the fold and made to take the secret oath of the Riders. Chapter 27 of the book describes the trail of Dr. Amoss. There is a mention of two Wadlingtons, Lee and Walter, testifying in his behalf. Judi Wadlington Clark
Judi, my gr grandfather should be in the book..can you check for Dr. Emilius Champion? Thanks. Bonnie TX
