Another thought on movement from VA/NC/TN to the Caldwell Co area of KY. If you follow the Cumberland River it starts in eastern TN/KY near theNC/VA borders. I saw an article once that said that the Wilderness Rd followed I believe what is now hwy 25 in eastern KY- or roughly close to where it is now from Cumberland Gap up toward Corbin, KY. It was easy for our ancestors to hop on the Cumberland River and float "down" stream. Downstream being at first heading SE towards Nashville, and then NW through what is now the land between the lakes area and emptying out into the Ohio River near Paducah. Eddyville in Caldwell Co is on the north side of the Cumberland and close to where my NC Rev War ancestor ended up. Just another thought......( and my Mam-ma told me that was how her Mam-ma told her they did it!) Teri
