    3. Hi LIsters, If you cannot post a query to a board, this is probably the reason why!!! Ken G. ********************************************************************** RootsWeb.com regrets that the ability to post new information to the message boards, and the message board administrators' pages, are temporarily disabled while we transition to our new message board system, which will be available shortly. All previously-posted GenConnect messages are still available for you to search and view during this transition period. We recommend that if communication with a poster is urgent, you respond directly through an e-mail message. Otherwise, post a response once the boards have transitioned to the new system. The biggest and most exciting change to the new system is the combination of two powerful message board systems (i.e., GenConnect and FamilyHistory.com) into one -- users will be able to take advantage of a much larger community in which to share experience, tips, and genealogical information. The new message boards will be indexable by the major Internet search engines, and as a result queries, discussions, and helpful suggestions from the genealogical community will reach the widest possible audience. Thank you very much for your patience. JAKE GEHRING Executive Producer RootsWeb.com

    2. Does anyone on the list have any information about Demarcus (Marcus) Molloy (Maloy)? He was either born 1787 in MD OR born in Ireland and came to the US when he was 19. Rumors, nothing proven. I would love to have any information about this man that anyone has. He married Ann Beck in Caldwell Co. in 1817 and is buried in the Beck cemetery. Thanks, Rae Ann in San Francisco

    1. New member Dinah and the Stevens family
    2. Dear Dinah, I am also researching the Stevens family(s) in Caldwell Co, KY. I am particularly interested in the John Stevens who married Lucretia Calhoun in Caldwell Co. in 1813 and also in the family of Elijah Stevens who died in Caldwell Co. in 1834. The large family of Elijah Stevens is fairly well documented. I do not, however, know if/how my John Stevens married to Lucretia Calhoun is connected to Elijah's family. In the process of trying to put pieces together, I have accumulated a fair amount of information and will be happy to exchange with you -- or anyone else researching these families -- if either of these is the Stevens family that you are interested in. I'll look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Betty Ravenholt

    1. Re: New member researching Mitchell, Newsom, P'Pool
    2. Dear Betty-- This is so great!! :) I am descended from the Hosea Mitchell's sister, Elizabeth Angeline Mitchell. She married James Henry Hayes (hence my first name!) and was the mother of my great-grandfather, Lee Forrest Hayes. My brother's middle name is Mitchell. My mother has done very well in making sure the family names live on! I have a number of Colleys in my database. I have the family of Hosea Mitchell and Martha Ann Colley, as well as her parents, and brothers and sisters. Her father, WIlliam Colley, was married 3 times, and had children with all the wives. I do have a a Susan Jane COlley married to John D. Irvin, but no marriage date. I couldn't find a Lydia Colley, sister to Martha Ann, in the 3 marriages. I also have William Colley's father's name and his siblings. It appears the Colleys intermarried with the Killebrews at a great rate. William Colley was married to 2 of them himself. I came across a Mitchell family history written by one of the Mitchell grandchildren in 1941. It contains several letters written from one of the Mitchell brothers in Caldwell County to a younger Mitchell brother in Missouri. The letters mention Hosea and his wife "Ann" and also the death of their first child due to pneumonia. If you are interested in this, please let me know. I was wondering about the William T. P'Pool you mentioned. Would you have his parents' names? Thank you for all your help! I hope to hear from you soon.. Hayes

    1. New member researching Mitchell, Newsom, P'Pool
    2. Dear Hayes, Welcome to the list! I am researching a large Colley family that married into three of the families that you mentioned in your posting. These Colleys lived right on the border of Christian and Caldwell Counties. Later, a number of them moved into Graves County. Hosea Newsom Mitchell, son of Cader Mitchell, married Martha Ann Colley, daughter of William Colley, in 1856. Young C. Newsom, son of Martha Newsom, married Mary Jane Sizemore Colley, daughter of William and Unity Sizemore, in 1856. And John D. Irvin, who died in 1884, named William T. P'Pool in his will as his best friend. It is thought that this William T. P'Pool may have been married to a Lydia Colley, alleged sister of Susan Jane Colley, the wife of John D. Irvin, above. What a tangled web! If you have any information about any of these individuals or if you would like more information from me concerning any of these connections, I'll be happy to exchange information with you. Regards, Betty Ravenholt

I have many branches of family, which I hope to expand on as well as help you other list members. Some of the surnames I am researching are: Hayes, Newsom, P'Pool/Poole/Pettypool, Sweeney, Dunning, Mitchell, Morris--I have many others that are only peripherally connected with these names, so even if one of these names appears in your records, I may have more information on them! Hope to help/be helped by you all! Hayes E. Schardt
