Hall. I have attempted once or twice to do something with James but never got anywhere. I did not know, for example, that he married Gracey Calhoun. I know that Andrew's will pretty well excluded James, and that the two daughters were raised by their Grandmother Sarah George. In fact, I had thought that James had moved away, if he ever lived in the area. I had been told that his parents were Joseph and Mary but don't know the source of that data. 3. Hi List: I am desperately searching for information about a Joseph and Mary Thompson from SC. I believe they came to Caldwell Co in early 1800's. Their son James W. Thompson married Rachel George, daughter of Andrew George. He married second Gracey Calhoon on Oct. 19, 1815 in Caldwell Co. Does anyone know anything about this family? James' and Rachel George Thompson were my ggggrandparents. Appreciate any help. Sue

    2. Thank you to everyone who wrote back!! I was *so* pleased to get the obituaries! You have no idea how much this helps me out! Were there any other siblings? Their mother, Katherine Boemer, was the daughter of Susannah Mitchell Boemer Jennings. Susannah Mitchell married Matthias Boemer, then Jessie A. Jennings. Susannah Jennings' grand-son is my grandfather, Robert Mitchell Rawls. LINEAGE: Cader Mitchell--->Susannah Mitchell----->Nora Jennings----->Robert Mitchell Rawls. 3. Like Ken I remember Miss Eliza and Miss Sula well. Ken and I were in the same grade at East Side where Miss Eliza taught. I am sure she helped me learn more Bible verses than my Sunday school teacher did. I can remember Miss Sula dry good store well I used to love to go into the store and look around when I was a girl. I don't believe they ever married and they lived together till their death in a big house facing Hopkinsville St. I just checked my Cedar Hill Cemetery book and I didn't find Sula. If I get a chance to go to Princeton anytime soon I will look up the obit and see what they have to say about Elzia and Sula. I have found memories of both of the ladies. 3. Can anyone tell me who currently owns the land on which the Hood cemetery lies? It is in Shady Grove, on Crittenden County land which once lay in Caldwell County. The land for the cemetery was donated by Chasteen Hood, and he is buried there. Thanks. Dawnene Young

    3. The Wkydbase has been updated as of 12:00 noon today. Please check your family and information for edits and updates and 'corrections'... New information has been added for the Henderson County area. As always please use the Wkydbase as a 'tool' and help for your genealogy but please go further with your personal research. At any time I'd appreciate updates and edits to keep the database as correct as possible. Good luck with your research! Betty Sellers Jane Sellers McBroom

    1. Father's Day
    2. Kenneth E. Gilkey
    3. We thought this poem might be nice for Fathers Day it's an old poem from a newspaper that our little adopted Papaw had save for years and shared with us. Don't just honor your Dad by putting his name in a family history when you see him Father's Day tell him what he means to you !! " Happy Father's Day to all of you Dads" Peggy and Ken Gilkey Daddy 'Tis mother who teaches childish feet To run to the window to see,-- "Is Daddy coming down the street?" That, quite an event can be. Later we hear, "I want a new dress," " I want a ball and bat," "Mother, may I go to camp this year?" " Well, we'll talk to Dad about that." Few of us understand his worth ' Till later in life we look, Down memory lane to see his life -- Then we might write a book. Here's to you, Dad, we greet you today With a cheer for the life you are giving To make our homes a good place to be And life much more worth living. God bless you Dad and keep you safe On the highway up to heaven, And may we meet you there at last When life's rewards are given. author unknown
