John, you wouldn't happen to have anything on Adelisa Mildred Dunn, would you? She married Robert D Mackey in Caldwell County and someone else on the list sent me email saying that the marriage record showed Job Cherry had security on Robert and Adelisa's 1845 marriage bond. I found that interesting as Ann Cherry, whom I *think* was Job's daughter, was the grandmother of James Rufus Dunn, the man Robert and Adelisa's daughter, Pernecia, married. Anyway, I keep coming up empty handed on Adelisa Dunn but I know she is in the Dunn pile somewhere. :) Denise's Random Thoughts: Families are like fudge .. mostly sweet with a few nuts.

    3. I have information on Dunn's in Caldwell. My documentation is on Andrew Dunn(b 1797), son of Joseph. Kelly Dunn (kdunn@gte.net) has done more research on the Benjamin P Dunn branch. 1. Caldwell County Dunns, a new Dunn in my search!
    2. I now believe that my my Pernecia Mackey Dunn's (b about 1857) parents were Robert and Adalissa/Alcy M. Mackey. I am positive that her father was Robert Mackey from Ohio (funeral records and family records show that). The real question is who the mother was. Apparently, Adalissa/Alcy was a Dunn before her marriage to Mr. Mackey. Here's the little I have so far that might pertain to this particular Dunn: Caldwell County- Mackey births: Mackey, George P, born 10/25/1859, parents Robert Mackey and Alcy M Dunn. Mackey, Lizetta, born 10/10/1852, parents Robert Mackey and Adaline M Dunn. Mackery, M J, born 1/27/1855, parents Robert Makery and Mildred Dunn. Given that Pernecia was born in KY, her parents should show on a Kentucky census. Here are the Mackeys Iâ ™ve found so far: 1870- GP Mackey (p500), MJ (p502), PA (p500), Polly (p49), RD (p500) all in Princeton, Caldwell County. 1860- R Mackey, Princeton. (p.54) 1850- Robert Mackey, Caldwell, District 1 (p397) 1850- Robert Mackey, Caldwell, District 2 (p794) A Caldwell County census (1850, I think) shows: 851 851 Mackey, Robt 36 M W Brick Mason Ohio Adalissa M 25 F W KY Martha J 5 F W KY Johnie Arabel S 3 F W KY I suspect that George P, Lizetta, and Pernecia were all born to Robert Mackey and his wife but there seems to be confusion about her first name. I'm not sure about the MJ Mackey. Anyway, if anyone knows anything of Adalissa/Alcy M Dunn, I'd love to hear from you! 3. The Sellers Wkydbase is temporarily offline. Yesterday afternoon - Jane discovered in the igmlog that someone had been on the database for over 12 hours - this morning that time is now 36 hours for the same isp. I love to share my information with other researchers and also receive theirs but I don't think this is a little ole lady or man updating their family tree. I believe in free genealogy - and I'm afraid it's going to land up on a paid for service. I'm sorry for this inconvenience .

    2. Kenneth E. Gilkey
    3. The Following from Rootsweb Review today..July 19, 2001 ********************************************************************** MESSAGE FROM THE ROOTSWEB HOME OFFICE by Jake Gehring, RootsWeb Executive Producer Our message boards improvements continue this week. My comments regard the search features in the new system. Sometimes certain boards and the messages they contain have been moved since they were initially indexed -- when you search and try to view posts, you get an error message asking you to check back in a few hours. In some cases this message lasts a lot longer than expected. We're changing the error message and working hard to fix the underlying problem. I'll report the status of this issue next week. Generally, however, we hope that you are impressed with the new search features. The new system shows search results ranked by relevance -- meaning that the system will display the best hits first. For example, messages that contain all of your terms are ranked higher than those that contain only some. Here are a couple of additional search tips: Wildcard Searching. The new message boards allow wildcard searching as long as the user specifies at least the first three characters in the word (i.e., users can search for "gehr*" to find "gehring, gehrig, gehrke," etc.). Search Operators. New functionality allows users to add powerful operators to their search terms to affect results. These operators, the plus and minus signs, are placed just before your search terms and function like popular Internet search engines Yahoo! and AltaVista. If you put a plus (+) sign in front of any word, that word *must* appear in a message for it to be a match. If there are terms that you want to exclude (you don't want to see messages in which these terms appear), you can place a minus sign (-) in front of them. For example, a search for "+gehring heinrich -baden" will return only those hits that contain the word "gehring" but not the word "baden", and in this group any messages containing "heinrich" will be displayed before those that don't. Try out these new search features next time you visit the boards. Happy hunting! * * * * * NEWS AND NOTES FROM ROOTSWEB MESSAGE BOARDS. To access or find recently revamped Message Boards, go to http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=main&r=rw where you can search or find message boards of interest by surnames, localities, and topics. Board Administrators will find the links to the Admin Center here also. 2. I visited the James Ramey homeplace about 20 years ago with my g uncle Robert (Sam) Alexander Thorp, who was born 1904 and died in 1999. James Ramey and Irene Elizabeth Cummins were his g grandparents. Their dau. Sarah Mildred Ramey married John Samuel Thorp. He told me the James Ramey log home was bought for the logs and was disassembled and taken to another state. The man and state are unknown to me, also the date this was done. I wish I had written this information down. It is presumed the original poplar logs of the James Ramey home still exist.

    3. Does anyone know or is anyone researching the Hurley-Alsobrook or Hurley-Caldwell Travis families of Livingston county and surrounding areas? I am looking for the names of John H. Hurley and Charity Alsobrook's children. John H. Hurley was married a second time to Sarah Caldwell Travis and I would like to know the names of these children as well if anyone has any idea. Also Johns brother George C. Hurley had a daughter Perminda that married Joseph J. Alsobrook. I do have the names of their children if anyone would like them but not either set of John Hurleys. Thanks again Robin

    3. For those listers who do not subscribe to Rootsweb Weekly Review. This was posted Wednesday, July 11, 2001...... * * * MESSAGE FROM THE ROOTSWEB HOME OFFICE by Jake Gehring, RootsWeb Executive Producer Another week of work on the message boards has gone by. I just wanted to send out a quick note to report progress on bug fixes and enhancements as well as clarify my copyright statements which appeared in my last message. --- Users can now filter messages by category (queries, deeds, Bible records, obituaries, etc.) to see only messages of a particular type. --- Advanced searches may now be performed within a particular board and this option has been set as the default when the "Advanced Search" link is clicked from within a board. --- Combining the board hierarchies from GenConnect and FamilyHistory.com has progressed quite a bit since launch and is nearing completion. We realize this part of the launch has caused some problems, so thanks for bearing with us as we get one structure for all those millions of messages! Regarding the ownership of messages posted on the boards: RootsWeb states in its Acceptable Use Policy: "When you post messages to mailing lists, message boards, and other facilities at RootsWeb, those posts remain your property under copyright law." The Terms & Conditions at Ancestry.com are the same on this point: "Portions of [Ancestry.com] will contain user provided content, to which you may contribute appropriate content. For this content, Ancestry is a distributor only." And again from the MyFamily.com, Inc. Internet Services Copyright Policy: "Content which has been contributed to public area of the MyFamily.com, Inc. sites by users remain the property of the submitter or the original creator and we are a licensed distributor of such content." I really hope to resolve any concerns here by stating that "if you posted it, you own it." Please feel free to read these legal documents yourselves for clarification: RootsWeb.com Acceptable Use Policy http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/aup.html Ancestry.com Terms and Conditions http://www.ancestry.com/legal/terms.htm MyFamily.com, Inc.
