Looking for ancesters of Dr. Amoss. I have picture of Dr, David Amoss and the Night Riders at Hopkinsville, Ky. at the court House and the street was dirt. F. Anderson Buress
Hi Rae Ann, it's me, Judi. I have an excerpt from the book "Riders in the Night". It is the story of the revolt of the tobacco growers against the American Tobacco Company, and the organization of a resistance movement know as the "Night Riders", which undertook by whip, firebrand and gun to break the hold of the "Trust". The "Hillbillies" growers who continued to deal with the Trust were forcefully brought into the fold and made to take the secret oath of the Riders. Chapter 27 of the book describes the trail of Dr. Amoss. There is a mention of two Wadlingtons, Lee and Walter, testifying in his behalf. Judi Wadlington Clark
Could you possibly send the photo of the Night Riders to the list? I believe that my Wadlingtons were a part of the Night Riders. Thank you, Judi Wadlington Clark
i am trying to trace my family tree and all i can find on the net is back to him. I would like to know if there are any other people out there tracing the McGough tree or a related one. Please help!
I am new to the Caldwell list and KY research. I have many questions. Jesse and his son Roden and families lived in Caldwell Co in th early 1800s. They came from Green Co. KY, before 1809. Roden is spelled many ways- Rauden, Rawdon, Rodin, or R. T. was also used. Jesse and Roden owned land and Roden operated river ferries on or near Eddy Creek and Demumbers Creek. Roden administered the estate of his father, Jesse, in 1819. I think Jesse died in January or February of that year in Caldwell Co. Roden was in Calloway Co. in 1823. He may have died in MS thirty years later. 1- Where can I get a copy of the estate inventory, proceedings and the will, if there was a will? 2- Are there plat maps available of that time period? Where can I get copies? 3- Where can I get information about these ferries? 4- When the water levels rose, cemeteries were probably covered with water. Are there any records of these graves? 5- I think these creeks are now in Lyon Co. Should I be asking these questions of the Lyon Co. list? 6- Jesse received several land grants or warrants; where does one write to get copies of those applications? I would be very grateful for any information about these families. Thanks for your patience on these beginners questions.
