I was recently at Dilday Cemetery in the LBL area and am researching Mary Jane BASS VINSON, the sister of my great great grandfather, Jethro BASS, to see if there is any known connection with the DILDAY or the BARROW surname since they are all buried in the same cemetery. Please review the information below and let me know if you have any connection? As for Mary Jane BASS, I know that she was married to Balis Print VINSON on Dec. 22, 1864 in Stewart County. Their children were: James VINSON Charlie VINSON William Franklin VINSON-md. Lue Rena SHOLAR Rosa Ella (Luella) Vinson md. Alfred Cullen FUTRELL Mary Elizabeth Vinson md. Wm. Sidney BAILEY Matilda Ann Vinson Mary Jane BASS was second wife of Balis Print Vinson (1839-1918) m. Dec. 22, 1864 Stewart Co.Tenn. by R.R. Allen, MG. Mary named her 1st son after her younger brother who died at the age of 16, and John Franklin Locke, who lived with the Bass family after his parents died. Mary Jane and John Locke, her first cousin, were very close, according to info from Rena Solomon (a Bass relative). Mary Jane BASS was the sister of my great great grandfather, Jethro BASS, (the one born August 10, 1835 in Stewart Co.). Mary Jane was the daughter of Norfleet Wesley BASS (born Oct. 3, 1805) and Ann LOCKE. Leslie Faye Moore (me) Gladys Marie Crouch (mama) Eula Lee Bass (grandmother) William Wesley Bass (ggf) Jethro Bass (great great grandfather - brother of Mary Jane) Do you know of any link between the Bass family and the Dilday or Barrow family that would have them buried in the Dilday Cemetery? I am attempting to identify the particular Jackson family of my lineal ancestor William T. Jackson (b. GA, 1829). William is first found enumerated on page 509 of the 1870 Caldwell County KY Census, Princetown Township. He is married to Sarah J. Curry (b. Bedford TN, 1839), the daughter of Reuben Curry. It appears Sarah Curry is William's second wife for, in 1870, the family is enumerated as follows: Jackson, W.T. 41 GA (Carpenter) Sarah J. 39 TN (Keeping House) M.F. Female 17 GA (Attending School) A.D. Male 9 GA (Attending School) M.L. Female 1 KY [This child's name is Minnie, as William and Sarah Curry's first known child] William and Sarah Curry were married in Caldell County KY on June 04, 1866. In addition to Minnie, their other children were a William Jackson, b. KY 1871; and a Charles E. Jackson, B. KY 1873. In 1880 William and Sarah - and children Minnie, William and Charles - are enumerated on page 162 of the Christian County, Kentucky, Census. The children from William's first marriage: the female "M.F." b. GA c1853, and the male "A.D." b. GA c1861 have not been located in 1880 or in subsequent years. In 1900, William T. Jackson, living alone, is enumerated on page 232 of the Hopkins County, Kentucky, Census. William T. Jackson died on February 02, 1908. Sarah Curry Jackson died on September 18, 1890. Both, it seems, died in Caldwell County KY and are buried in Crossroads Cemetery. It has been suggested, but remains unproven, that this William T. Jackson is the same William T. Jackson who is of record as having served 10th (Johnson's) Kentucky Cavalry [Confederate]. I am particularly interested in determining the name of William T.'s first wife, as well as the names of his children from the first marriage, as it may provide a clue to his Georgia family. As reflected by the 1870 census records, it appears that William moved from GA to KY sometime between 1861 and 1870; however it is unclear if his first wife died in GA or KY.. Thanks for any comments or suggestions. __________________________________________ Brett F. Woods Santa Fe, New Mexico

Hi Listers, You can just enter the persons name, it will give you a birthdate.. When entering the Mothers Name... You MUST use the mothers MAIDEN NAME!!!! If you use the mothers married name you will get NO RESULTS!!!! One suggestion to slow down the ads is just minimize them... Hi Listers, Saw this, Thought it might interest some.... Funny how some towns got their names.......Ken G. John A Jarboe had a daughter named Nancy Jane that married Robert Milton Marshall. In 1852 Robert Milton and Nancy joined a wagon train in Greene County Kentucky that included many families from surrounding counties. Also on that train were several Jarboes, including John A and Elmira. Their journey to Texas took three months. The trip was filled with many exciting and perilous adventures. They had problems along the way with Indians, sickness, flooding, and even a tornado. Many of them, including Robert Milton and Nancy Jane stopped in Kentucky Town, Texas [about fifteen miles from Sherman]. The remainder traveled on to Wise County Texas. Those that went to Wise County were under constant attack by Kiowa and Comanche Indians. It got so bad that several of the Kentucky Town group [including a couple of Jarboe boy's had to go to Wise County and help rescue some kinfolks surrounded by attacking Indians. During The Civil War Robert Milton and two Jarboe's joined the confederate army and served until the end of the war.In the meantime the notorious William Quantrill decided to make Kentuckytown his winter headquarters. In his group were such notable characters as Jesse and Frank Janes, some of the Youngers, and Bloody Bill Anderson. There are several old history books in this county that tells of the goings on of this rough bunch of people. Nancy Jane died at the close of the war in 1865. We found her tombstone still intact in a grove of trees in the middle of a farmers field about three miles from what's left of Kentuckytown .My ggrandfather John Thomas Marshall is the son of Robert and Nancy. We found a hill not to far from there that is still known as Jarboe Hill. ====================================================== When first settled in 1830s was known as Ann Eliza. Renamed by Kentucky emigrants in 1858.Unique layout gave town protection against Indian attacks. On freight and stage routes. "Sacred Harp", a robust frontier gospel style of singing and composition, began here. During Civil War Quantrill gang rendezvous. Kentuckytown Baptist Church. Founded 1853 by Kentuckians coming here by wagon train. ********************************************************************** \\\|/// \\ ~ ~ // ( @ @ ) ----oOOo-(_)-oOOo----McGillekehr ********************************************************************** *****Your kygenweb homepages are***** CALDWELL http://home.hiwaay.net/~woliver/caldwell.html LYON http://home.hiwaay.net/~woliver/lyon.html TRIGG http://www.kyseeker.com/trigg/index.html **********************************************************************
Does anyone have info on the John Donelson/Donaldson family in Caldwell Co. in the 1840-50 time period. Believe he was born about 1797, he was a preacher. he married Elizabeth LEE, also need her parents. They were one of my sets of great grandparents, and I found that John Donelson disappeared between 1840 and 1850 and Elizabeth is shown in Census alone with their children after then. Any information appreciated.
