    3. The legal age to marry in 1817 was 21. The bond should be signed by the prospective bridegroom and his bondsman (or surety). Perhaps the bondsman was his father, but that does not mean that the bridegroom was under age 21. Usually there is a consent note signed by a parent or guardian if the person was under age or there will be a written notation on the bond that the parent or guardian was present and gave consent. Good luck. 3. Hi Janice, The Handybook for Genealogists, ninth edition says: Fayette Co. Date created 1 May 1780. Parent County or Territory from which organized; Kentucky Co, Virginia Address: Fayette County, 162 E. Main St., Lexington, KY. 40507-1363 Phone: 606 253 3344 ( County Clerk has marriage records from 1795, probate & land records from 1794; Clerk of Circuit Court has divorce & court records. I couldn't find anything on the south fork of Sicking but I did find a South Fork of Licking. It is North of Peris, KY and Silas and Stoner may merge with it in that area. If you don't have any luck on the Sicking, I would try Licking since it is in that same general area. Good luck .......Bob ----- Original Message ----- > Does anyone know where Fayette Co. was circa 1785?...and waters of the north > fork of the south fork of Sicking...about twenty five miles from the mouth > thereof..... > > I have a photocopy of a land grant to John Cannon given from the Gov. of the > Commonwealth of Virginia of unpatented land in the District of Kentucky. > > thanks, Janice (Cannon) >

    2. 6/20/02 Hello All: Contacted nasty virus few days ago. Gradually, but increasingly, devouring functions and programs. Very difficult at times to establish internet, taking several minutes to connect. Experinceing all sorts of wierd screen images. Has completely shut down "Favorites" and "Address Book" functions, as well as some others. Expect total failure for on line abilities any day. Don't know how or when the attack occurred. Have ordered corrective programs, expecting to receive soon. Has sure made me a booster for anti virus programs which I have also ordered with the restoration programs. Jess M [email protected]

    3. Hi all, Concerning yesterday's (June 18, 2002) 5.0 earthquake... No serious damage or injuries here, just a lot of laundry that has to be done on everyones britches. The whole thing lasted about 10 seconds, with a horrific loud sound, akin to a loud blast of dynamite followed by 10 seconds of booming and shaking...I have never heard a sound like this before!! Really, really loud sustained thunder would be similar to the sound made by the quake.. But 10 seconds is a long time when you are looking for your crutches and trying to run at the same time. I had knee surgery last week and by the time I got crutches in hand and was ready to run the shaking was over. Our back storm door came unlatched, swung open abt. 2 inches and slammed shut when the shaking was over. I was sitting in a chair watching the door and really couldnt figure out exactly what to do... Weird, what you remember, huh??? Our old clock pendulum stopped swinging at 12:37, the time of the quake. The quake was centered abt 15 mi. n.w. of us, across Evansville...It did break a few store front windows in Evansville..
